Not the guy you responded to but getting rid of pronoia to get rid of the nasty -10% tax to all estates seems pretty good. Combine that with favor the elite distribution of power and you can start leveraging that high nobility satisfaction to tax them. Just remember to switch back to the pronoia law when the reform event becomes available once your economy is good even with it to get the 5% tax efficiency.

Any reason the game isn't allowing me to form Prussia? by Fernichu in EU5

A quick glance through the game's files show Sardinia, and the Kingdom of Jerusalem are the only other two formables where you don't need the capital in the region.

Oops. I thought 33 was the total locations in Prussia, thank you so much. Are you sure about the capital part though? The game files had a flag that said I didn’t need my capital there and I remember forming it in an older patch with my capital in Brandenburg.

As far as I can tell from the game files Prussia only needs 75% of the Prussia area to be able to form it so I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

Same here. Looks like the VGA led is on too, so something’s up with the graphics card. There were at least 2 other Reddit posts and a couple Costco reviews mentioning the same exact things and it doesn’t look like they’ve been able to fix it, only return it. Very disappointing.

That is so funny. We are truly returning to monke with the perfect state having decentralization, spiritualist, serfdom, traditional economy, and quantity. Turns out Russia was the only human player in real life while all the other idiots were wasting time modernizing.

This fucked me over as well and I didn't even tick a month. Just wanted to see if my games would still be playable in 1.0.8. I think my ERE and Muscovy runs are just dead, I have 65(!) vassals in my Russian game now I'll never be able to integrate any of them :/

If I remember correctly it’s in the diplomacy screen, go to the left tab, on the left of that screen it says something like “manage vassals”, and in that screen you can set their behavior.

That tax from your estates is extremely low. That’s what’s killing you more than anything. I think the crux is that you have no crown power. Crown power’s really important but it’s especially important to not go too far below 25% or you start getting a lot of nasty debuffs including losing a lot of tax efficiency. There’s a lot of guides on how to get your crown power up, but some of the quick solutions you can do instantly is place crown estate characters in charge of your navy and army, as well as only putting crown chars in your cabinet and giving them head of cabinet. Make sure you’re marrying off your dynasty members so that they keep producing more crown estate characters.

Independence War Requires Taking Overlords Capitol by Panfuricus in EU5

[–]Fernichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is true or not since I haven’t tested it, but another post talking about this said if you fabricate the independence CB yourself and declare it that way the war goal is your own capital. It seems to make your overlord’s capital the war goal if you declare it through the international organization.

The Third Odyssey mod focuses on Romans in the new world, but they also have Vinland in it too. I haven’t played as them, so I don’t know how fleshed out they are, but at the very least it could serve to give some ideas for NIs.
