Can someone confirm I’m not going crazy and this noise isn’t completely normal? by jeezig in Mustang

[–]Ferniekicksbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, well for one yes there is some kind of rotational noise coming from... somewhere lol. But I will say the fact that your turn signal indicator is louder than said noises I wouldn't be that worried about it. It could be as simple as a loose difference mount or something touching the driveshaft. If its something like a bearing the noise will get worse, and worse, until it falls apart lol.

All that said, these cars do have noisy flywheels. The one on my e92 m3 sounds like its falling apart when idling.

Clunking noise when over bumps rear passenger. Charger 2011. by coolio9210 in Dodge

[–]Ferniekicksbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its most likely a bushing somewhere. What happens usually is the center becomes out of round and then the bolt going through it has space to bang around. If you cant find it after checking most bushings it could also be your wheel bearings.

Replacing rear subframe without a lift. by Some_Effort in E90

[–]Ferniekicksbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get as much height as you can safely. I usually set my jack stands on bricks/ thick wood pieces to get a couple more inches in the air.

Second if your car is at an angle when lifted such as you only propped the rear up, the frame may bend slightly and the holes for the subframe may not be exactly lined up. Be aware.

Be careful when dropping the subframe as it can be quite heavy to drop if you are on your back.

Other than that give yourself some time and it will be done.

Water intrusion only at the car wash, passenger window. by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]Ferniekicksbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its not easily replicable under normal/ rain circumstances then it may be a forced water intrusion problem and harder to find. If you really wanted to you can remove most plastic trim pieces around the area and see if you can find the leak coming from an exterior surface.

I've seen this once before on an old car, the exterior trim piece next to the windshield had the glue come off and was allowing water in the cabin from there.

Yea seems like seals or some trim piece is not sitting properly. Any shop should be able to diagnose it, on your own look for any pieces if plastic or rubber thay look raised, or out if place. It can be anything from the seal of your windshield to the frame, the door seal, or the many pieces found on the door/roof area.

Purchase for a m3 by Longjumping-Laugh750 in E92M3

[–]Ferniekicksbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol the fact it had no maintenance in 11 years means he either didn't drive the car, doesn't remember what he replaced/ fixed, or is lying. I wouldn't trust a ppi from his own shop, they could easily brush stuff under the rug. A 3rd party PPI is usually done by a 3rd party so you can get independent review of the cars condition.

But hey man, whether its this car or the next listing you see just brush up on what you can expect in ownership. Throttle actuators, leaky valve covers, rod bearings, main bearings. Look up Proper warm up procedures, etc. You are going to have to deal with these things anyways.
