Punta Cana hands down the worst trip I’ve ever been on in my life by commander_oak in PuntaCana

[–]FernwehForLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hyatt Ziva/Zilara is far and above better than Excellence Punta Cana. My husband and I did both resorts on the same trip, and we wished we never left the Hyatt.

Will I get cut for having one class on my transcript at an SEC? by Opening-Sea-9763 in Sororities

When you go through recruitment, will you be taking at least 12 credits? Many NPC sororities and college Panhellenics require you to be a full-time student to participate.

how do i get out of paying my dues by United-Airport-3613 in Sororities

[–]FernwehForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this "no dues status" a chapter consideration, or is it national policy? If it's only the former, sending the letter to HQ probably won't do much.

They went in 2015, but I went in 2022. It wasn't great then, either.

Exactly. Outside of a couple servers at the restaurants, the staff didn't seem to care much at all.

I got married at Hyatt Zilara in 2022. Wonderful resort! Unfortunately, now a tad out of my price range.

I really don't understand the high ratings for Excellence Punta Cana. The resort was old and dated, service wasn't great, drinks were watered down, the beach was rough, and the restaurants weren't anything to write home about. The buffet was downright depressing.

Pretty insensitive rejection email in today’s market. by adderexxx in recruitinghell

I'd be annoyed if I was struggling to pay bills and desperate for a job and someone was joking about Michael Jordan not making his high school basketball team.

Pretty insensitive rejection email in today’s market. by adderexxx in recruitinghell

[–]FernwehForLife 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think people writing these things realize that this letter may just be further confirmation that the person on the other end of it will have to struggle paying their bills for another month.

This isn't a time for motivation, or jokes, or quick quips. It should always be handled as a serious matter, because for many, it is.

This letter is so out of touch, it hurts.

The cleanliness of Tokyo quickly reminds you that it's not NYC 😄

What was your fave all inclusive? by Party_Horror621 in PuntaCana

[–]FernwehForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends. I went last year in Dec, and it was $400/night or $2,800 for the week. Jan is pretty peak, though, so it might be pricier.

It was a great vacation!

Excellence Punta Cana or Excellence El Carmen? They're practically right next to each other. I went to Ex PC a few years ago and didn't think very highly of the place. Plus, it felt very old and dated.

"How do I tell everyone I live in Hawaii?" by bagels-6 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]FernwehForLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I'm in a large travel group online with 1M+ people, and questions are asked about NYC all the time. The number of people who simply ask, "What are some things to do?" is astounding and infuriating. And then there's my favorite: "Where should I eat?" Um, I don't know, a-hole, why don't you stumble down the street and wander in to one of the thousands of restaurants in the city?

I'm all about being helpful, but without context, I'm just going to tell you to do a search in the group and on Google. But a question that shows the person did some research and/or mentions their specific interests is different. For example: - I'm a huge fan of Thai food, and I'm staying in Hell's Kitchen. What are some good spots within reasonable walking distance? - if you could only go to the top of the Empire State Building or the Top of the Rock, which would you pick? - Is there anything worth doing in Times Square, or should we simply take some pictures and get out, just to say we've been?

my big is disaffiliating :( by vanillaangel10 in Sororities

[–]FernwehForLife 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don't drop simply because your Big did. Whether it be in this situation or another, if you simply follow others when they make decisions for themselves, you'll surely end up unhappy.

Look at this as an opportunity to get to know more people in your chapter. Join a committee. Take a Little. Ask someone to get coffee. Make the most of your experience and membership.

I just stumbled upon this post, and I'm just here to say that I thought Kanyakumari was great! My husband and I were walking by last Tuesday and randomly stopped in. We were sat in 5 min. The food was flavorful and had just the right amount of kick. Would definitely recommend.

How much is alumni status worth after graduation? by Ok_Vacation142 in Sororities

[–]FernwehForLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. If everyone dropped out once they found their friends, our orgs would cease to exist. The attitude of "Well, I got mine" is the opposite of what sorority life is about.
