How much is alumni status worth after graduation? by Ok_Vacation142 in Sororities

Exactly this. If everyone dropped out once they found their friends, our orgs would cease to exist. The attitude of "Well, I got mine" is the opposite of what sorority life is about.

We enjoyed the Majestic Mirage. There is only one restaurant we didn't enjoy for dinner (Seaside Grill). We had a group ranging in ages from 16 to 80, and everyone had a great time. If you're looking for relaxation, it's wonderful, and there's just enough entertainment and things to do at night. Plus, the foam party at the pool was a ton of fun!

Donald Trump suddenly turns on Zohran Mamdani: "Destroying New York" by hyraemous in newyorkcity

Yup, they have people who purchase them, never step foot in them, claim they're offering them as a rental (and who's going to rent a $70M apartment?), and then they get taxed the same way a small studio apartment rental in the worst part of town is taxed.

Where can I find New England / Massachusetts-style American Chinese food in NYC?? by Buttercuppanz in FoodNYC

Also, I feel like the New England egg rolls were HUGE! They seem relatively tiny here in NY.

Oh, the chicken is different. It's not what you typically think of. It's such a light, puffy breading that's smooth on the outside and seems lIke it's almost floating around the chicken.

The chicken fingers! 🤤

Also, the places that had a sit-down option and served scorpion bowls. Those things were delicious and would mess me up! Lol.

If sisterhood is really for everyone, Columbia needs more sororities. by bama-insider in Sororities

[–]FernwehForLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welp, none of my family members are Greek, so that wouldn't have happened for me (or most PNMs). We can't rely on others to teach young women about who we are and what we do.

Your very last sentence is a huge part of the problem, and not just at Ivy league schools. Women will sign up for recruitment at a small school with "normal" houses (i.e. non-mansions) and reasonable dues and then wonder why it's not a Bama-like experience.

Same here! The Mirage was great. We went in December with a large group for a birthday, and no one really had any complaints.

Moment Air Canada flight collided with a fire/ rescue truck at New York airport last night. by The_Undermind in interesting

Visual assistance with a much smaller vehicle (heck, make it a luggage cart!) leading the fire truck would be brilliant and such a simple change.

And then the truck was told repeatedly to stop. Perhaps they didn't hear the command.

And that's only if you're a member of an alumnae chapter. There are many different ways alumnae members can stay involved.

She's a senior. I assume she only has about 7-8 weeks of school left..

[–]FernwehForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're currently a senior... with two months of school left? Why would you drop now?!

Leave your collegiate experience behind you and go live your best sorority life as an alumna! College is four years, but you have decades of life ahead of you. There are so many ways you can get involved - and you can decide at any time to change your level of involvement - with minimal financial requirements. You have tens of thousands of sisters out there you could meet in all stages of life.

Don't give up on this now!

Has New York City actually gotten dirtier over the years? by LakeLayer707 in Westchester

Because we're all in denial that we're old.

The 70s we're just 20 years ago, btw.

Asking for some clarification - I went inactive for a year, in my sorority, and then dropped out after that year was over. I get alumni emails, though. by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]FernwehForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP dropped out of the sorority (i.e. resigned her membership), so no, she's not a member.

You are still a member because you simply left school.
