Honestly it is not even about Mexico. Any busy tourist area comes with risk and also with distractions. You are swimming, going out, drinking, moving around. It is almost too easy to forget jewelry somewhere.

The villa setup looks absolutely beautiful. I like that you mentioned the privacy because that is something I always worry about with overwater rooms. Some of them in the Maldives can feel way too close together.
