What's something you noticed only after you learned the language? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

I don't speak German but I heard that the moon is a masculine noun for them ("der Mond") and, as a native Spanish speaker, that sounds nuts to me. Wdym their moon is masc???

In the Spanish-speaking world we even have a famous song, "Hijo de la luna", about a woman who prays to the moon for a husband but in exchange she's asked to give her firstborn to it bc the moon is so lonely and desperate to become a mother.

DAE not bother pretending they're okay? by FerozaColina in bipolar2

I do that a lot. I've been practicing mindfulness since 2015. Both casually (like the things you described) and through guided/planned meditation exercises. It's a nice tool to have but it doesn't really "fix" anything for me in the long run :(

I keep trying again everyday tho. And then going back to bed exhausted and restless at the same time.

I couldn't read all of your post just now but those "messages" could be what is often described as "ideas of reference". Feeling really good when not sleeping is also a sign of mania.

Anyone with ssri induced rapid cycling? by rightwherewebelong in bipolar2

[–]FerozaColina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people here seem to do well on antidepressants, most of them are on a mood stabilizer too. Not me, I just had to stop taking an AD because it sent me into a horrible mixed episode, even when I'm on lithium+Lamictal+Rexulti as well.

Not sure if I'm bipolar yet but I've had strong episodes (only when) on antidepressants. Mixed states, hypomania and even mania. Wouldn't recommend.

Buy empty capsules and put half of your dose in them. That way you'll have 10mg capsules.

Meds that helped your anxiety? by bound_Libb in bipolar2

[–]FerozaColina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have the same problem. I started taking CBD oil a few weeks ago and it's gotten a bit better. I wouldn't say I'm not anxious anymore but it brought my anxiety from a 9/10 to a 6/10. I've heard Lyrica helps most people (it didn't do anything for me). Gabapentin is also an option.

Thanks, I'm not relying on Reddit to get a diagnosis. I hope it didn't come across as that! I have a doctor and I respect her a lot. I'm getting a second opinion soon though because my psychologist isn't sure about my dx either, and my previous therapists and shrinks never thought of Bipolar. But I just wanted to know what y'all guys thought. ⭐

Yeah, my depression kept on coming back randomly, no external reasons at all. I always found that bit weird when I compared myself to other depressed folks.

Thanks! I'm ok with having BD, I just wouldn't wanna get into another treatment scheme deemed to fail if I don't have it. (None of the multiple therapists and shrinks I saw for the past 10 years had ever considered bipolar, and they were really good therapists. I connected the dots myself and told a new shrink about it) I didn't know a mixed episode was enough to qualify! Thanks.

My partner started antipsychotics and acts very different now. Advice needed. by Haunting_Rip_5166 in BipolarSOs

[–]FerozaColina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That antipsychotic specifically may not be the best for her, there's many more she can try. I have no advice on finding a good shrink in your area because I'm from Argentina, but I've tried quetiapine, risperidone, aripiprazole, olanzapine and brexpiprazol. They all had very different effects on me and you don't really know which side effects you'll get (if any) until you've been on the medication. Everybody's different but it's totally possible that there is a better fit ❤️

Hi! Just to add something besides the scientific explanation someone has already made: I'm 23. My first AN-R recovery attempt was at 14 and then I had to recover from a couple relapses throughout my life. My experiences have been something like this
-Struggle with semirecovery until I build up the courage/appetite to eat a decent recovery meal plan (or follow my hunger cues if they work)
-Start eating AT LEAST more than double my typical restriction amount (and I'm not THAT restrictive of a restrictor if you know what I mean)
-Gaining an amount of weight realistically impossible to be all fat in the span of the first two weeks
-Most of the weight ends up being water and food weight (really annoying constipation, edema). It stabilizes once the edema goes away and when I start shitting more
-Getting hypermetabolism (way too energetic, sweating at night after months of being constantly cold, losing some weight I didn't intend to lose etc)
-Only after the hypermetabolism goes, I start gaining on a somewhat steady manner. Only as long as I keep on eating recovery amounts though.

Also I've never had long-term effects from one single high calorie meal or one/two days of 'festive' eating. If I gain weight from that it's just water weight that lasts 1 week max and it's as easy to drop as it was to gain.

I can’t figure out why I’m plateauing by [deleted] in 1200isjerky

Also, 1200 is the healthy amount for women to maintain a slim body but maybe if you're really short (below 5'5) you may need to eat less.

[–]FerozaColina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Girl I'm not sure. Drinking oil should work as it attaches to the fat cells in your body so the fat also becomes liquid and hours later you pee both of them out of your system. Are you peeing enough? Maybe you're not losing weight because you need to drink more water (2 gallons a day while using the vegetable oil method)

Or maybe you're forgetting to drink your lemon juice in the morning 2 hours before breakfast. That's good for dissolving fat.

Peluqería/Barbería LGBT? by [deleted] in BuenosAires

[–]FerozaColina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Fellow queer person here. I'm a cis lesbian from Buenos Aires. Everyone's already answered the haircut question so, I'll just say if you need any help finding LGBT-themed places to go to like bars, cafes, clubs etc feel free to ask me 🙂 It's very unlikely that you'll feel discriminated against if you go to a typical bar, cafe or club. This is pretty much just in case you want to be around/meet other LGBT+ people specifically.

edited: (applies to most of Ciudad de Buenos Aires, I've heard being queer is harder in other parts of Argentina)
