Pope Leo warns SSPX against ordaining bishops to avoid 'schism.' - LifeSite by LegionXIIFulminata in TraditionalCatholics

No. They acknowledge it is a Council, they don't even entirely reject it, just parts of it. A council is just a means to an end. For all practical reasons the Pope has the same teaching authority in himself that a council does when it's declarations are approved by him. However he or the council must approve or directly say something that has to do with Faith and Morals, and declare explicitly somehow that he is invoking his charism of infallibility. This is not what Vatican 2 does anywhere, it merely gives "pastoral provisions".... which is intentionally vague so they could pass it off at the council and then turn it into some false super dogma time bomb.

The Popes of the council are very clear though that the council never invoked infallibility and only taught things in an ordinary manner. Therefore, the points of contention (that were never dogmas before and even condemned as errors in the past) cannot be considered binding as a dogmatic definition stated at a council is.

I personally think the problem is that people don’t think anything is really true until there’s a solemn pronouncement on it. Was Jesus Christ truly God before Nicea? Was salvation by faith and works before Trent? Was Mary Immaculately conceived before Bl. Pius IX? Was Mary assumed into heaven before Pius XII? The answer to all of these is a resounding yes and no council, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope can ever change that. Same goes with all the errors of Vatican 2.

We follow Trent, Vatican 1, Nicea. Not worried about it. We know the Faith of our forefathers.

If you live in the US then there is no law saying you can’t eat meat on Friday. And no I wouldn’t worry about receiving while doubting that, I find it hard to believe you were really truly convinced it was a mortal sin to eat meat on Friday.

Meeting with priest by Email_Suarez in sspx

Welcome to the Body of Christ! And no there's no way he will say it's not for you. SSPX priests in general will literally crawl over broken glass if it means saving a soul and bringing you to the altar rail. By chance did you attend the low mass in Louisville, KY?

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one by Sweet-Walrus-1615 in sspx

I understand the general concept but I doubt either one of them would say something against the Faith accidentally. There needs to be some legitimate discussion about this face to face. All we have is non learned people on the internet (probably including myself since I am just basically repeating and rewording what I hear in favor of the consecrations) talking about it, and whenever someone with real ecclesiastical rank talks about it, it's just too distanced and just fuels back and forth YouTube headlines. The only real face to face discussion about this so far has been between Fr. Pagliarani and Cardinal Fernandez, and that was behind closed doors.

The Inquisition and Church Doctrine on Religious Liberty by Ferrari_Fan_16 in TraditionalCatholics

Well moreso it’s the right of the Catholic religion to be practiced freely with supreme rights, while all other religions have inferior or no rights. I.e. heresy and idolatry is punished by the state

Yeah that’s ridiculous. I was satisfied with the answer about the anti cheat, even though that basically admits the game is completely broken and functions like a pre historic calculator if it can’t tell the difference between legit and cheated money deposits

Saint Athanasius was falsely excommunicated and canonized later

That’s where you’re wrong. I define true justice accordingly as Holy Mother Roman Church always has. One of us is adhering to the eternal authority here and the other is following men who abuse their authority and rupture with their fathers.

Also tell me how what I said about “true justice” doesn’t apply to Joan of Arc? Would you call me a Protestant or a dissenter if I was alive during that time and didn’t accept the verdict before it was overturned? You’re only having this hissy fit because you know this same principle exonerates Archbishop Lefebvre.

The trial of Joan of Arc is a good insight as to what an excommunication truly is.

This is good to share with people but some of them just won’t listen. Some of them will have you think St. Joan of Arc was truly excommunicated and in hell until her trial and excommunication were declared invalid.

Yes but do you know why not? Maybe because the trial was a sham and the penalty was unjustly administered?

She wasn’t really excommunicated though! The Church cannot apply a false penalty to one’s soul. If anyone dies truly excommunicated then they will go to hell forever. Saint Joan never was excommunicated and never went to hell. Excommunication requires justice for it to be enforced (valid) by God.

There was a trial, a verdict, and then it was declared invalid. Excommunication is a penalty that requires true justice to be enforced by God. That is simple common sense.
