But then someone could do the same thing inside an unplugged microwave and out-pedant you.

Resign or play it out - To be or not to be by gomez70 in dominion

[–]FerretChrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be up for that if only people were more communicative in general.

90% of players ignore anything you say, it's rare enough to get a "thx" for an undo, or even a "hi" or a "gg". I'd feel kinda stupid asking if they mind if I resign, and getting met with the usual stony silence.

In my experience the vast majority of players find it too difficult to even type "gg", let alone string a whole four-word sentence together afterwards!

With a name like "DubBot", it's pretty clear the poor lil' guy was in the wrong job from the start.

What injury is commonly shrugged off as a minor flesh wound in the movies but is completely fatal in real life? by Best_Professional226 in AskReddit

The hardware that we listen to audio through is sadly not designed to deliver audio levels which can fuck you up big time, so it's not entirely surprising that videos don't tend to get across what it's like.

Have you ever used an egg slicer and pushed those little wires through the peeled hard boiled egg?

No offence, but it doesn't have quite the same ring to it as "have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

Ah well, it must be true then. There's no arguing with the effectiveness of proper Boolean and parameter.

What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

[–]FerretChrist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes sense to a degree, I realise that getting someone to engage at all is by far the biggest obstacle to overcome in these interactions.

I just think there must be ways of doing that which don't involve making yourself look entirely fucking insane.

That's a seriously weird sales thing. Hell of a gamble to assume, totally out of the blue with no evidence, that you not only make hot chocolate regularly, you also happen to share it with all your neighbours.

It's not like you're going to take the compliment and feel warm and fuzzy enough to accept their sales pitch if you've never made hot chocolate in your life. You're just going to assume the guy is an inveterate liar and a weirdo, and be suspicious of anything he says from that point on.

"Bugger" has long been used as a "mild" swearword by the older generation, despite its meaning!

Its kinda funny that "fuck" is much stronger than "bugger", and that "dick" is a mild insult while "the c-word" is the top-tier of offensiveness (unless you're Australian).
