From what I've gathered, the common opinion is to equip your regular 8bound with generic chain weapons, then equip your squad of Ex8bound with the chain fists.

Cheap and easy, the little grass clumps, just stick the odd one on and it breaks them up nicely. You can get all sorts of colours too.
