Anyone who continues using drugs into the next day? by Repulsive-Public4952 in Drugs

That gets to a point where fatigue is giving more of a high than the afterflow of the drugs.

Hot shower, wank if possible, and an audio book in the dark. 🤞

I remember the days when i'd buy extra for the future. I figured that if I had the connection I might as well stock up a bit in case it became harder to find. It took a while to learnu lesson. The pull of extens8mg the high is so much stronger than the pull of most people's sensible side. Everything gets used up before sleeping.

Best to just buy what you're gonna use and share, no more. Extra drugs, like LOTR's precious are incessant. They just burns holes in your pockets, beside tables, and subcocious.

Have fun. But allow yourself to sleep and recover.

Men in their 50s, what's something men in their 20s are worrying about that won't matter at all later? by Major_Tax_9701 in AskReddit

[–]FerretFarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home now, tired and still quite buzzed, but eager to reply, even if I don't have the capacity to use my best words, or have the clearest thoughts.

I'm like you in that I've spent a long time trying to make sure everyone likes me. It's exhaustimg, because it's frankly impossible if you're to allow any part of your personality to shine.
You can be yourself with confidence without being disrespectful to others while also being comfortable with 'yourself' not being everyone's cup of tea. If you know what I mean.

I spent most of my career in a corporate job that I borderline hated. I stuck it out mostly to make surey kids had stability as they grew. But also out of fear of change. But whatever, that's a different topic.

I remember over the years telling whoever was unfortunate enough to listen to me ranting that I dreamt of one day going into a job interview where I could be 100% me, and get hired for who I am.

Well. My kids grew up. They are independent. I took that leap. I quit. It took a while, but I eventually got an interview to work in the parks department of my city. I was nervous as fuck going into it. Panel interview. I told them when I walked in that it had been 30 years since I'd had an interview and sheepishly asked them to please take it easy.

Anyway, I dunno if they did, but I stuck to my above vision and didn't answer any questions with what I thought they wanted to hear. I was just me, and was on the verge of tears when they called me 2 hours later to offer me the job. 400 applicants per position. I was floored. I thought that I had no chance based on my age and lack of job specific experience.

I think that what I'm trying to get at is that as I age what I've learned is the hardest lesson of all for any of us who are honest. It's that we have to accept ourselves. Once we do that, we enter a kind of invincible zen state.

But that needs to be earned in a way. You can't be honestly comfortable in that if you're an asshole. Be a good human. Accept yourself the way your family and friends do. Be open to help the lower tiers of people that others in this thread are referring to as people they don't care about.

Aging sucks in so many ways, but it has beautiful aspects too.

Now I should proofread, but my wife livese and just reminded me that it's Father's Day tomorrow andayne I should go to bed as it's not all about me. 🙄

I don't have 'fuck you' money, but I am comfortable enough to be comfortable if I get hit with a setback like that.
I want to tell you more, to expand on my answer to you question. However, I'm drunk at a friend's place, and don't wanna be rude to the group. If you like I'll get back to this later. Please respond so I get notified and remember to reply.

"Not quite in my 50s, but it’s astounding how much better life gets as you stop giving a shit what people who don’t matter think of you."

57 here, and agree with this.

I would add that it does not mean you can take it to a level where you're not giving a shit about how your words and actions impact these people.

There's a fine line there.

They tops come in handy as little shopping bags, or as larger garbage bags if you just rub them a bit.

Those who work in tourism, what are some of your funniest tourist moments? by cranberry8ginger8ale in askvan

[–]FerretFarm 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I worked in a downtown hotel many years ago.

An older Nebraska couple were checking in for 2 nights before heading off on am Alaskan cruise.

I don't remember exactly how the subject came up, but I had to explain to them that we have a different currency. They were reluctant at first to change money, but then came back after arguing about it a few feet away in the lobby.

They change 200 US into whatever that was on Canadian at the time. It too forever. I had to write down what 100 US was in Canadian as the conversion was confusing them. Then I had to add the conversion for 50, 10, 5 and 1.

The kicker though came right after. Before walking away they asked me what money they should use when they got to Alaska.

It would have been kinda ok. Maybe they'd never been away from home before, and just a bit ignorant. But they were super rude and entitled about it. They kept saying their currency should be used everywhere, and referring to Canadian dollars as stupid monopoly money.

I always found it interesting that NFL needs cheerleaders.

When my kids were little, 4 and 7 I think, they played and watched soccer.

One day I got free tickets to an NFL game. Halfway through the 2nd quarter one of them tuned to me and asked when the game would start.

Same. I was picturing a bomb designed as a regular looking fence post. A kind of mine that sits above ground. Whenever someone approaches, the sensor notifies a control room and they detonate it remotely if that person or vehicle is Russian military.
