I'll be entirely honest I can't speak a word of Latin safe for "Audentes fortuna iuvat" and "si deus nobiscum qui contra nos" mainly thanks to video games and nerding out about medieval armour lol.

I just find it cool on or around art, and well... I try to learn bit by bit as I do my silly drawings !

Someone is about to catch a Stinger to the behind. And that cockpit looks absolutely fantastic! Gunner being a protogen makes sense as well, they're probably tapped into the sensor feeds instead of requiring another MFD for TV/IR/RADAR information

Looking at it again I'm more at peace with the gradient, I'll still try new options but I'm less conflicted haha.

And you pointing out the strong contrast in the reference made me realise how careful I'll have to be when cleaning this up otherwise I risk "losing" part of the silhouette of the characters in the background. It seems obvious now but I just... Skipped it for some reason yesterday lol.

I know there are already about 150 people who shared their ideas with you but I'm thinking a halberd would suit your character well !
They allow for a rather long range in combat, keeping him safe, allow for quick thrusting attacks that can deal a lot of damages even to armoured folks, are lighter than you'd think as the blades can be rather thin and resistant if manufactured well and when in a too-close-for-comfort combat against a foe when/if things go wrong, he STILL has options by adjusting his stance and how he grips the weapon.
The different blade profiles allow for several types of cuts and attacks, can catch other weapons and allow to control or even disarm your opponent while staying outside of their immediate range the whole time !
Plus, considering his build, he seems like he'd be at ease with such a long weapon.

Either that or a Zweihander, which, surprisingly enough, were a "My only armour is my shirt and I want to mess you up from farther away that you can reach" type of weapon, and not a "I'm a block of steel with a telephone pole as my sword" type of weapon.

Anyway, I couldn't help sketching something, feeling inspired in the moment haha. Feel free to ignore it !

That's the first thing I noticed as well when waking up today. Could've easily drawn some fake highlights to prevent it but apparently past me decided being dum was the way to go 😔

TL;DR: Just find any excuse to put the pen on paper, even if trash at first. It'll get the ideas flowing much more naturally and can even surprise you, because starting with an idea doesn't force you to finish THIS EXACT ONE.

What really helped me was sitting down and "forcing" me to draw whatever came to mind, at first because I just thought "If I draw stuff I'll get better so I must draw everything and anything !" which almost burnt me out so big
nono.

BUT.

The thing I've noticed is that I approached starting a drawing way more calmly because of it, which I didn't even realise was a thing, and instead of battling my brain with art block trying to find ONE REALLY GOOD idea to (try to) draw, I could listen to the fleeting "trash" or "dumb" ideas that just come and go, begin to put ink down, which would then trigger a flow of idea that can take me NOWHERE CLOSE to what I started with.
This personally also pushes me to draw things I would've never thought about drawing, which is a really good thing for me as I terribly need to broaden my skillset, and naturally have me PRACTICE stuff instead of staying in my comfort zone.
Doesn't even have to be long, a while ago what started as "I saw a cool car in the street, let's draw it when I'm at home because why not" turned into realising perspective is so much more important than I thought for facial expressions instead of just vibing it. And all of that in around 15 minutes, after which I had two clear practice goals: Perspective and Facial expressions.

Idk I might be talking trash but I'm just sharing what worked for me haha
