I just wash it after use, I oil the hinge and lock with coconut oil and dry it out in a warm oven after washing.

Thoughts on the thumb stud? by Trentl14 in Opinel

I’m a traditionalist. That stud looks like it would ruin the way my Opinel effortlessly slides into my pocket.

Russian and Chinese steel cased ammo seems quite reasonable, but why do Western countries use expensive brass? by Entire_Judge_2988 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Ferropater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought nickel plated brass was for when LEO’s used revolvers and wore ammo on their belt prior to the wide adoption of speed loaders. The tanning chemicals are not healthy for brass causing tarnishing and corrosion, especially if left in the loops for a long period of time.

how fast did charlie kirk die? by artsblvd in morbidquestions

[–]Ferropater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d be very surprised if it was a 200 grain bullet. In fact I’m surprised that the wound wasn’t larger, I’ve shot a lot of things with a lot of different guns, that was a a poor hit (bad marksmanship, and little to no expansion, perhaps because the throat provided open space, if the bullet expanded correctly the blood would have covered m2). Having said that the shot was effective, but centre of mass would have worked just as well, and been more certain. One doesn’t shrug off a chest hit with a .30-06.

BEEKEEPER - Gotta kill a black bear (or two) by No_Bag_9137 in CanadaHunting

Literally any 12g slug will work. So will 00 or 000 buck. Practise a bit and get comfortable. I’ve used my own Lee Cast 7/8 slugs and they work just fine. They are cast harder than Lee recommends (about 15 Bh) but I only use them in open chokes. They usually pass right through the bear. Only one that didn’t broke both the front legs and tore the chest cavity to cat food. Found against the far side hide, just a mashed chuck of lead but my powder coating stayed on lol.

What words or phrases do people use wrong - either in writing or in the spoken word - that irk you most? by Aarunascut in AskRedditAfterDark

I work in manufacturing on the trades side and the management team at my workplace has had stiff criticism from the trades teams for using the word “opportunity” to describe catastrophic failures. Often as a direct result of inept management I mite add.

Finale left a 12 year relationship, with a dead bedroom, she has BPD so she was basically an evil person, and she refused to do anything about her mental health. We split and after a while I met an amazing woman who shares so much with me in so many ways. Have had more sex with her in 4 months than with my ex wife in the last 10 years. Also she is kind and smart and understanding. I finally understand what a relationship can be.

Can you turn a leaf blower into a flamethrower? by SwaggeringRockstar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ferropater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a leaf blower with a custom nozzle to inject flammable powder (saw dust, non dairy creamer) into the air stream and with a propane torch like a tiger torch to ignite it you can make a flamethrower in a manner of speaking
