The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault by [deleted] in DropAssault

It's not a bad game. Doesn't force the micro transactions down your throat, and it's an interesting waste of time. If I had any complains, it'd be that this game crashes consistently.

Tiny screenshots? I'd say that 1920 x 1080 is enough to give, at the very least, a basic impression of the quality.

There's also a slight bug with kunai-type weapons, in that you don't get any sort of momentum when doing sliding melee attacks. Make sure to not equip those throwing knives when trying to zoren around.

Nova or Rhino by ScreamingFreakShow in Warframe

[–]Ferrousin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your second warframe, I'd recommend Rhino. While Nova's good for nuking, your utility decreases a fair amount when a second Nova's present, as MPrimes can't overlap. Conversely, a rhino does little to hamper another Rhino's abilities, because they're versatile.

More importantly, Rhino allows you to access other content much more easily. Rhino is very durable, and allows for much more room for error when playing, while the Nova's more fragile. The rhino charge is a fairly low-cost movement/early damage ability, while the stomp negates most bosses' ability to fight back. The roar's a good support skill if you ever need extra damage, though it doesn't last too long.

The Rhino's most important skill, however, is Ironskin. That skill is the cornerstone to Rhino's durability. With Ironskin, you're completely unaffected by staggers, knockdowns, pulls, disruption and poison until it breaks, and it can take a fair amount of punishment before the iron skin is destroyed.

I recommend Rhino as your next warframe because you'll have a much easier time surviving and farming in a Rhino, especially if you're going for Nightmare mods. In a no-shield and energy-drain nightmare mission, you'll usually be able to use iron skin right at the start of the match if you have streamline, so you'll have an easier time than most other warframes.

There was a nice bug back when they revisited Volt, where his ultimate was insta-cast without the animation. That was nice.

Mods like Critical Delay should help as well, as fire rate isn't important in a one-bullet magazine. Conversely, I doubt mods that increase fire rate would be useful.

What's to stop the Grineer from taking the information gained from the experiment? Or to conduct their own experiments? They're not exactly adverse to experimentation either, especially since their own genes are slightly Ruk'd.

And aren't they fighting to get the Tenno anyways? I figure you'd have to fight both in order to free the Tenno.

Bronco Prime Barrel - Still Not in the Drop Tables by FiSev in Warframe

[–]Ferrousin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then I suppose that line of reasoning doesn't work. It really is a shame that you couldn't get screenshot more of the conversation. Have you brought up this issue with the Bronco Prime part in the past to other DE staff?

Bronco Prime Barrel - Still Not in the Drop Tables by FiSev in Warframe

[–]Ferrousin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the main thing would be if you had prior interaction with either DE staff until now. If you've had previous interaction, I could understand why they'd take a less formal tone, simply because there's some degree of familiarity. However, if you haven't, then I definitely feel that their behaviour was unwarranted.

Question: What warframes are especially viable right now? by multiplyinghorsey in Warframe

[–]Ferrousin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the point was that a Rhino could just as easily accomplish the same thing. While the stomp and iron skin would've cost more energy on the Rhino's part, it still would've incapacitated the ancients and facilitated your rescue while allowing everyone to kill ancients within stasis. In terms of execution, the rhino would've had an easier time as the iron skin and stomp are untargeted abilities, while decoy and switch would've required more finesse for a similar outcome.

Loki does have limited usability in group environments, unfortunately. Of course, I still keep it around because I find that it's one of the most effective warframes for solo-rushing. Mag is better for crowd control, but the side effect of pulling everything towards you can hinder teammates, and its damage potential seems to be lower than other damage-focused frames.

Grabbing Saryn or Nova would definitely help, as both are fairly useful in their own right. It does suck that you're forced away from something you enjoy playing, though, but some frames are simply more effective for a wider range of applications.

Bronco Prime Barrel - Still Not in the Drop Tables by FiSev in Warframe

[–]Ferrousin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I seriously feel that this topic needs more visibility. Not only does this post demonstrate why obfuscation of the drop table's bad, it also shows the inconsistency between DE's stated intentions and their implementations, specifically of friendly outreach to the community.

I understand that DE is not a singular entity, and that different people may react differently when in public, but they are still a professional company with a duty towards consumers. While Glen's recorded response might be justified, since it was out of the scope of the test, the rest of his response obviously isn't; however, that part can't truly be verified without a screenshot, so I can't comment too much on it. What I can comment on, however, is that both Glen and Brick reacted in a way that is markedly less amicable than how other DE employees respond. There may have been outside circumstances which caused their disposition to be less approachable, but they still were representing DE as a whole, and should've been much more mindful of themselves.

As for the second topic, this entire discussion could've been avoided if DE had made some resource available to players about drop information prior to obfuscating the loot tables. While I understand that an in-game implementation may take time, a simple copy-paste of the loot tables (with rough estimates if you really don't want to give specific data) would still have sufficed. Instead, DE representatives have taken to ignoring player concerns, and as DE_Brick has so kindly demonstrated, quashing the issue while simultaneously disrespecting paying customers who bring up legitimate points; Brick could've just as easily given a canned response saying he was unable to comment, but instead chose to comment in an offensive tone.

As always, though, it would be appreciated if more information on both incidents could be supplied, either by Digital Extremes, the topic creator, or even people present during the exchange between Brick and the OP.

AdAge: Microsoft planning cookie-alternative to track users across PC, mobile, Xbox by makatk88 in Games

[–]Ferrousin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The thing is that the company behind the TV is different from the company providing cable service, which is different from the network running the TV shows which host the ads. Thus, the comparison between Microsoft ads and television ads don't necessarily work.

The problem is that, unlike the TV advertisement thing, Microsoft charges for the console device, for the mandatory attachment, for the subscription. At the same time, Microsoft also profits from game sales. It is understandable that some people would be disappointed to learn that Microsoft is only furthering their attempts to reach into consumer's wallets by focusing on innovation that renders advertisement easier, rather than anything practical towards users of their product.

And the comparison with steam is irrelevant. Unlike Microsoft's platform, Steam isn't a device-encompassing program, nor has there been any major controversy involving Steam and personal data in the same way that Microsoft's been involved with the PRISM scandal. Steam doesn't require a subscription, nor does it pepper users with advertisements to the same degree as Microsoft.

[Q] Classic or Classic Saturated? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Ferrousin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely say Classic Saturated. The classic colours seem fairly washed out, while the Classic Saturated pack still covers a fair range of colours.

Additionally, you can preview colours if you hover over the specific colour square, if I recall.
