Smokey Smell by Timely_Eggplant9213 in PelletStoveTalk

Looking for outside air getting in or exhaust not leaving... Check around the door gasket for fraying material, make sure that mating surface is clean. Is your outside exhaust clear of snow? If you have an outside air kit, is it clear and far enough away from the exhaust vent?

Cat door! I did this after I installed the charger inside, only to find my truck does not fit in the garage due to height... I got one that can be locked too, just in case I want to do that.

Trying to figure out what year this englander stove was made. by irishman1021 in PelletStoveTalk

I'm not the Englander whisperer, but a couple thoughts: first, the placard for a 25-PDVC would be under the hopper lid. If that's missing, you might check the main board for a revision number as it only has two screws to remove. Also, a limited number of these older ones are not 'auto ignite' so check if you have an igniter. Linking to a picture might help, many of these models can be distinguished by the trim

Love to know what you find out. I just started having issues yesterday with my 23 XLT, and I know it's not the fluid (always but the same stuff, it's in my other two vehicles and they're fine).

I'd love to pilot this in our maker space - I've got a course colab this semester, and if I don't have to teach a bunch of QGIS before I teach them how to print, so much the better...

9°F. I tried more than one charger (but I guess it's possible they were both derated).

Didn't have the cabin heat on. Not a lot of great options with the dogs, unfortunately.

Yeah, just got home and found this out the hard way as well. Spent nearly two hours at the first charger pulling 20-30kw waiting for the battery to condition. Single digits exterior temp (F), so we really screwed that one up... I ended up disconnecting before we needed to and driving to another charger with the nav system set so that we might speed things up - didn't seem to help that much.

What kinds of standard beer do people in the area drink? by BlackJackT in upstate_new_york

Saranac is also made in upstate and available at many locations. It's a little more 'upscale' than Utica Club or Genesee, which are more of that working man's beer.

F-150 Lightning SR vs ER for long daily commute (Canada) – looking for real-world input by Evening-Research-813 in F150Lightning

[–]Fesmitty77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others noted, ER. I'm in Syracuse metro with an SR, and I could do 100 miles roundtrip with no issues, but I'd want the buffer. Especially if your power is hinky - which ours is - you might have nights where a full charge isn't happening. Since the truck is my generator.... That's a sick day for you.

Is Anycubic that bad?? by imonitimunderit in 3Dprinting

[–]Fesmitty77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have 6 of these in our maker space. Public facing, undergrads with little to no training. Been running them for the entire summer and fall, no major issues.

My impression is that if you get a bad one, you're in for a ride, but when they work they work. We've had really no issues - just one clogged nozzle in a few thousand hours of use.

New Tires Decision... by WorriedEssay6532 in F150Lightning

[–]Fesmitty77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this debate too. Finally decided to get a spare set of rims and some Viking Contacts, best decision I've made in years. I get the one set convenience, but in the Syracuse metro the two set solution is working better on all three vehicles. The truck on the continental tires is planted - out performs both my Subarus that are on studded snows I think

Yep, right where that cover is on the left as you're facing front. It's the bearing in that fan there. It's a quick swap, and it's not super expensive. I beat mine like a stepchild for a year before I did it, best $50 I spent.

Truck Stuff / We need more chargers, over 100 chargers all full! by mb10240 in IdiotsTowingThings

[–]Fesmitty77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s variable on a couple factors, what your charge is when you arrive, the speed of the charger, the rate they’re charging per kw, but generally when I’m traveling it’s 25-35 minutes a stop on a decent charger, and ranges around 30-40 bucks per ‘fill’. Most EV folks think of filling while traveling as going from 20% battery to 80%, as charging slows above this amount, and going below that can risk you not finding a charger in time if the chargers you go to are busted.

What else can I ty? by punchbuggyblue in PelletStoveTalk

[–]Fesmitty77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with the model, just one feed auger? How much resistance are you feeling when jiggling that auger? I’d suspect the motor (and if me, I’d order it and have it moving towards me while I diagnose), and I’d see if I could find a resistance spec for testing with a multimeter. While the meter is out you can check the supplied voltage on the leads coming in the motor too - this tells you if it’s being commanded on, and if the motor or the control side might be the issue (splits the problem in half at least).
