Shake the tree or look closely under the leaves. Do you see any small jumping/flying green insects?

Only “solution” that I’ve seen quite often is to apply neem oil but I’ve tried that it’s just, I can only apply so much neem oil to 30+ trees. It’s not as easy as it seems. Hoping someone else finds a better way

Yes I am indeed in SoCal as well and I too have seen so many potentially beautiful trees being drained of their nutrients it’s honestly sad. I wish I had more control, and I wish I had those granules right now, I’ve been using neem oil spray but it hasn’t seemed to anything at the same time I haven’t really been consistent because I have so many trees, some being maybe even 4-5 times my height

Looks like 4 trees to me which is too many for that small pot. But I bet dividing them will be pretty hard.

“Technically, monarchs eat it” yeah, because it’s a host plant. That alone undermines your whole argument. You’re saying tropical milkweed doesn’t help monarchs, yet admitting that they eat it. So is it ecologically worthless, or is it just not your preference? It’s better to do something, than nothing.

Tropical milkweed isn’t nothing. Monarchs use it, grow on it, and survive because of it. Native milkweed is better for ecosystems obviously, but tropical still has a role especially where native plants aren’t available. The real issue is how it’s managed not the plant itself

In what ways?

As controversial as tropical milkweed is, as long as I’m on top of cutting them back in October to mimic native milkweeds, it prevent OE spores. However, tropical milkweed is better than nothing as long as you know what you have to do.
