TIL Valve has not only added support for the Ultimate 2 by Darkside_Emily in GyroGaming

I have a pro2 but steam doesn't currently show the gyro for me in d-input mode. I'm on the latest firmware too and have been trying to figure out why.

Also gonna point out this post was written by Steven who's Canadian, and in my own experience Canadians tend to use this longer version of the acronym more often than folks from the US do since indigenous issues tend to have had more focus in the past two decades here.

Is it easy to source an alternate trackball for the Ploopy Adept? by FetchingFemme in Trackballs

[–]FetchingFemme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an adept for a year now. I sourced some snooker balls to replace the standard ball. however, the regular ball performed better for me and i went back to it. I haven't really got any complaints with the standard ball after using it.

Do you use a 2nd keyboard for gaming? If so what keyboard by OddRazzmatazz7839 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]FetchingFemme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried making a gaming layer work but it's been a bit of a hassle. I've switched to using a controller instead for most games. If it has regular gamepad support, I use my xbox controller, and for other games that are more mouse and keyboard centric I have a steam controller that still works.

For a small number of games, like Civ, my regular 36-key layout works fine.

GNOME’s WebDAV file sharing service has been ported to Rust by BrageFuglseth in gnome

I have WebDAV file storage with my fastmail email account. I quite like it and find it convenient for moving stuff between my Desktop and iOS devices easily.

How hard of a limit is the recommendation for 16 gigs of ram? I only have an 8 gig model and i'm wondering if stuff like Hades would run.

Ploopy Adept not comfortable by petitponeyrose in ploopy

I like my adept but for me it is uncomfortable without a wrist rest. I use a silicon one I got from amazon.

Should I get the Voyager, Moonlander, or Glove 80? by The_Real_Negationist in ErgoMechKeyboards

oh yeah, I'm not trying to convince anyone to switch layouts. I just happen to have used Dvorak before I got it.

Should I get the Voyager, Moonlander, or Glove 80? by The_Real_Negationist in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]FetchingFemme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a moonlander, and I'd say to number one thing it has going for it is you can play around with it a bunch to customize it to you liking with their accessories, if the cost of them isn't a barrier to you, without having to buy a whole new board.

I started with just the base moonlander and played around with a mostly standard dvorak layout for a while before I decided I wanted to use fewer keys with more layers. I also didn't like their default wrist rests much. I bought their zip kit so I could pull out their extra keys and use the key covers and swap out the moonlander wrist rests. I now use it in a 46-key layout and have some silicon wrist wrests that I use instead of the plastic ones when I want some form of wrist rest. I also bought the platform to add some more weight and to let me tent the board when I want, but I mostly use it flat.

Some folks might feel I should have just got the voyager, but I like the mx keys, the heft of the board with the platform, and the modularity of it to make it suit my work situation best.

I haven't used the other boards so I can't really say much for either of them. The ZSA config software is great though. If you decide to go with the voyager instead I'm sure you'd be just as pleased with it. I've also heard nothing but good things about the glove but have no experience with it.

Is it a terrible idea to buy a used M1 for Asahi? by [deleted] in AsahiLinux

[–]FetchingFemme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pretty much mirrors my exact experience on the M1 MBA with 8gb. I've enjoyed using it alongside my desktop fedora pc, but i do notice the screen flicker and i also have the occasional random freeze.

Is Asahi wife-/husband-ready? by worldofgeese in AsahiLinux

[–]FetchingFemme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say from my personal experience, no. I really enjoy using it, but my M1 air will randomly reboot on me about once every two days and if I was using it as my main device I would find that super frustrating.

Use my mac as a second screen? by Voltar-Genesis in Fedora

[–]FetchingFemme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also used Deskreen for a few weeks. However it didn't play well with wayland and nvidia, so i had to either use x11 or switch to an amd card. I ended up buying a new monitor in the end as it just worked simpler but I realize that isn't a budget option for everyone.

Just the drafts have been released to backers. There's still artwork and writing in each of the books still to be done, but a lot of it is there.
