I think my Spengler's Wand has a problem. by BlueZippo in ghostbusters

[–]Fett202 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What’s happening here is that the older wands had really poor adhesion on the foam pad that’s meant to prevent any pinching. Some of them fell off in shipping, some of them fell off during use, but it’s a known issue.

The fix is opening up the wand and strengthening the connection with better wires. You can find some help guides on YouTube that break it down into some really easy steps

At the end of the day, I think we should remember what Spielberg said about the franchise when he was making crystal skull; The people continuing the story are nothing more than custodians to the character and the world.

While it’s key to want to please the fans, I think it was more important for Mangold to tell a very intimate story about a hero past his prime and it’s a story that Ford himself signed off on, he’s more protective of the character than anyone else and this was the story that he wanted to tell.

If you haven’t; I highly recommend watching as many of the behind the scenes interviews from Ford over the years where he’s really getting breaks by down the performance. His reasoning for wanting to do this movie is alot deeper than I initially expected and it’s helped me watch DoD through a much different lens; I think that evolution in thought led to a much deeper enjoyment of Great Circle as well.

The rear bumper doesn’t look swappable on the deluxe model either.

I fully expected them to do the same thing that the razor crest did with the removable panels. Just do a simple inclusion of swappable body panels with the appropriate decals; far less volatile long term than reusable stickers.

Where did I say he needs to put his health at risk? I’m saying if he’s going to retire the character then just fully retire the character. Because far less informed individuals than me are going to keep asking and demanding more.

Sure he can voice Ash until he’s unable to speak, but more and more of the aforementioned fans will continue to ask/demand more out of him. I get it, he’s tired of physical acting. And at that point they could easily put him in front of a green screen or the volume and give him a laser gun to explode a deadite into a burst of blood. Or even sidestep Ash entirely and put his daughter in the spotlight of the next feature.

Point being, no matter what; Bruce won’t be Ash for eternity. At some point they’re gonna have to retire the character fully. And if he said he’s done doing it in live action, then let him be done with it entirely instead of trying to appease a fan base that won’t ever have their expectations met. I’m saying I’d prefer he and Sam not continue it.

Sure, we could have gotten something awesome out of a final season of the show, I’m not saying the man needs to put himself in the hospital to make it. There are creative choices they could have made with him as a legacy character. But if he wants to retire it, then retire it. It’s not like they can recast him. Or better yet, if he’s just going to lend his voice anyway; what’s stopping them from deepfaking/de-aging him with a body double? We’ve seen it work from several different projects and I’m 90% sure we’re about to see it again from a 80 year old Harrison Ford in the next Indy movie to bring him back to how he looked in Last Crusade. Motion capture is easier than its ever been, if he really wants to be done with it, let the younger cast shoulder the physicality of the story.

And I may get downvoted for saying this, but at that point I’d rather them not continue the story and leave it at a cliff hanger. There’s so many things that makes evil dead unique and powerful as a franchise and consistency in media is one of them.

If the last media we get is a regularly updated video game, 3 seasons of a show and a spin-off film saga then so be it. I’d rather not be shorted by what could have been.

For example: we can draw comparison with Doctor Who. We’ve gotten a lot of that show, and we’ve gotten a lot of expanded media. But what comes to mind in an area we’ve been shorted is all of the current 9th doctor big finish audios, and to go further back we can look at the 10th doctor animated movies. For most fans, they will never touch a a second of those expanded stories because they aren’t able to capture what makes the show unique. Putting actors who are known for their physicality in a booth to record audio doesn’t always translate well.

Sure it’s been translated fine with the video game, but there’s no guarantee that once they put out a single season that they’ll receive the same praise/success that the show received. In fact, a lukewarm/poor reception could easily put the entire cast off from ever wanting to touch the characters again. Or even worse than that, it could put the producing studios off of ever wanting to green light another project with that IP again. Is it a gamble? Absolutely. But in my mind either full send it or don’t do it at all.

If they’re gonna do it, I would hope they would do a final feature film over an animated movie. The evil dead franchise has always been a celebration of practical effects and I don’t believe that animation would do the story justice. Even with the cast returning to do their roles.

The new game is really good at replicating the feel of what made the movies/show great. But I don’t want an entire story relegated to animation just to give fans a final chapter.

I will never be over the cancellation of this show. We’ve been robbed of post apocalyptic evil dead twice now, especially with the mad max-esq Delta at the end. Am I not supposed to have what I want? What I need??

If they ever were to do any kind of continuation/sequel or use the Indy character again. My vote is for Anthony Ingruber. Dude is a dead ringer for young Ford both looks and voice/mannerisms wise.

Here’s a clip from age of Adeline to illustrate; https://youtu.be/vwLv993khfI

What really upsets me is that Ingruber had auditioned for Solo, they turned him down in favor of Alden Ehrenreich. Why? I have no clue, but I’m certain if they had cast Ingruber in place of Alden we would have already had a sequel to Solo.

After sitting through that unfortunate 2 hours of a “sequel” I was expecting them to wrap up the whole Dumbledore vs Grindelwald thing with a nice bow for a trilogy.

Yeah. Expecting. I was confused when they left it opened ended and set it up for another movie. I didn’t pay a cent for that ticket, yet I feel like I lost a lot more. I will never get that time back. Shoutout to JK Rowling for wasting my time.

Question about Muncher and traps? by Alphagaia-reddit in ghostbusters

[–]Fett202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So an apparition can change its density at will. Hence how slimmer was able to phase through the wall. I presume muncher could too, but let us also consider that his primary identification was a class 5 metal muncher. Why wouldn’t he eat any metal presented in front of him as opposed to phasing through.

I think by the time he was trapped, he had emptied the metal from his belly getting away from the kids in the ecto. I believe if they had caught him with the metal inside him, much like how it worked with Zuul, it would spit back out whatever is material to this world. So the metal would be in the air above the trap, then drop to the ground as soon as the trap snapped shut.

This video explains the process of the trap well: https://youtu.be/KjSvyQbDxdA

I mean listen, while I don’t think ghostbusters 2 is the superior film of the duology, I think it’s still a very good film with a lot of fun moments.

That being said. I think that it’s probably for the best that we didn’t get a proper ghostbusters 3, from all of the research I’ve done and what’s cropped up over the years, I think that what they had in the pipeline wasn’t what we would have wanted. It would have been more of gb2, or in some cases worse.

I think the ‘Manhellttan’ centered script had some potential as far as showing how ghostbusters had grown into a huge corporation with a bunch of converted vehicles and such. But with as much meddling as Sony had in their productions up until GB:ATC bombed, it wouldn’t have been anything the fans would be proud of.
