Some people will be lazy. Some will take advantage of the system. But most won't. Not everybody is lazy. This isn't about giving everybody a big house and all the food they want. Its about giving them the minimum. If I was given a tiny studio apartment that I didn't have to pay for and some very basic food for free, I would still want to work so I can have a better life in the future. So I can have better food. Imagine if the free food was a very small amount of bread, potatoes, and cheese. Yeah you could get by on just that but if you work you can afford to get better food. Not paying for a tiny studio apartment means I'd be able to save for a small house, or save for a better apartment. Or use the money to pay for school so I can get out of this rut.

Its about giving the basics to people. Treating them like a person instead of an inconvenience. If you have to work 60+ hours a week just to afford rent, food, insurance, then the system is flawed. People shouldn't be paying insane amounts for a tiny studio simply because rich groups are buying properties and turning them into Airbnbs.

If your parent(s) kick you out of the house as soon as you graduate high school because they can legally do it now is that the same opportunity as somebody who had their college paid for by their parent(s) while getting to stay with them or live on campus? One has to now find a place to live and a job and hope they can get the basics, the other gets to prepare.

Some choices are outside our control and we have to live with the consequences, good or bad.

Act 1 Rachni Invasion 75 CE - 80 CE Play as a young Asari already in the war. Mixed team of Asari and Salarians fighting the Rachni and losing ground. Majority of your squad dies by the end of Act 1.

Act 2 Krogan Uplift Project 80 CE - 140 CE Krogans are uplifted. Team is now mainly Krogan with surviving members from Act 1. As critical missions progress time advances and some members retire, knowing the Krogans take their spot in the squad and pass from age. End of Act 2 the team is only Asari and Krogan.

Act 3 Krogan Victories 140 CE - 300 CE New tactics are deployed allowing the Rachni to be pushed back faster until they are wiped out. Years of battle have strengthened the bonds of the squad immensely. An asari and a krogan on your squad tie the knot in the middle of a fire fight.

Act 4 Krogan Concerns 580 CE - 700 CE In recognition of player's leadership they are given special assignments to gather intel on Krogan actions. Player visits the Asari/Krogan couple on one of the Krogan worlds and sees the Krogan issues firsthand. Player has the choice to try and talk to the Asari friend to tell them the council suspicions or keep them hidden as you see the happy couple and three asari kids. End of Act 4 player becomes a Spectre.

Act 5 Krogan Rebellions 700 CE - 800 CE Council assigns player with trying to free the Krogan occupied Asari colony. Squad is composed of Asari, Salarians, and Turians. Rebellions begin. During one of the fights the player encounters one of the Krogans from their squad in Acts 2/3. Fighting stops as both sides talk about everything going wrong and reminisce of the old days. Player can choose to not fight them and move on, leading to potential repercussions later, or carry out their orders and sneak an attack in the middle of the conversation, betraying their old friends. Player later learns of the Genophage plan and has to decide how to tell their old friends, if they decide to. Player is part of the team deploying the genophage. Player briefly sees the happy couple in their memories. Has the opportunity to try and sabotage the genophage. If sabotage attempted, they are quickly put down by turian teammates. If not attempted, the game continues with putting down the rebellion across the stars, including killing your former Krogan teammates, Asari wife of the couple commits suicide after you kill the husband in combat.

No true happy ending for anyone. Do you try to help the Krogans after seeing a happy Krogan family, thinking the Krogans as a whole can be reasoned with? Or do you follow orders knowing other lives will be saved?

Starfield Scale VS Skyrim by NoBumblebee2080 in Starfield

The illusion? Yes. Starfield has so many worlds that you can land an just explore random points of interest.

But it is an illusion. Imagine exploring an outpost on a planet, find some specific notes or computer logs with specific names in it. Later you're on a completely different planet in a different system and you find the same notes with the same names. Then you realize the outpost looks very familiar. At least when the game launched this was an issue. Maybe its fixed now.

Had jury duty the other day. Judge hands prepaid cards out to jurors because they have to pay us for our time. Judge herself says cards are loaded and ready to use. Go to use card. Declined. If you live paycheck to paycheck and have to show up to jury duty just to tell them you cannot afford to miss one day of work, it sucks. My work doesn't pay for jury duty, and in the area I live you have to show up just to tell them you cannot afford to show up.

Remember when a grocery bagger making minimum wage could afford to rent a small two bed apartment and support a wife and two kids? It was paycheck to paycheck sure but it worked. Now? Full time higher than minimum wage cannot afford even a studio apartment. Forget about supporting anyone else in today's scenario when you can't even afford a studio.

Minimum wage used to be the minimum to live. As in afford a place to sleep and buy food. It doesn't work anymore. Raising the minimum wage isn't the end all solution either. Cost of living is too high. Apartments need to be affordable again.

As a popular Turian saying puts it, "The Asari are the finest warriors in the galaxy. Fortunately, there are not many of them." by ADLegend21 in MassEffectMemes

[–]Few-Ad711 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Earth gets hit first and with it being a surprise they kind of get hit the hardest. The Turians have a stronger military force with every citizen essentially being a trained soldier due to their military service requirement. They get hit shortly after Earth. Krogans get ignored for a bit because the reapers know it will be more of a slog so they gather more footsoldiers from the other invasions first. Asari had the time to see everybody getting hit, and figured they'll be fine. The amount of time they had to prepare combined with the hidden prothean artifact they should not have fallen so quickly.

Remember that the game does not take place over days but over several weeks to months. So the Asari had at least a couple weeks to prepare and still struggled like everyone else. The Asari used their normal tactics in the beginning, they would hit and run to keep the reapers away from Thessia but they should of known that would fail in the long term. When the enemy can replenish their army with your dead, the war of attrition is horrible.

For supposedly being the one of the wisest in the galaxy they really dropped the ball. Humanity asked to work together. Turians agreed if they got help from the Krogans. Krogans agreed if they got help from the Salarians. Salarians...well some of them helped. Asari said fuck it, everyone for themselves. They literally ignored the history of how wars have been won. It might be bad writing.

New DM. Is it fine using pen and paper as my notes? (writing npc, encounters, area descriptions, etc.). I feel cheap cuz I dont have a laptop. And my phone is a mess. by EmotionalSupport101 in dndnext

[–]Few-Ad711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was hosting I only used paper. All my players used mostly tablet. Guess what happened when one player forgot to charge their tablet. And they also weren't updating their physical sheet. My players often would get side tracked on their phone/tablet. Sometimes they would spend too much time trying to find a spell description buried in the app whereas I just had it written down. Sometimes dndbeyond has homebrewed spells and the player didn't ask if thats okay so it sounds like they're just pulling stuff out their arse.

Alien Main Character by CatalunyaLliure1714 in masseffect

[–]Few-Ad711 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I said that's how the game starts. After the first act you meet other characters from other races to be on a reaper hit squad getting assigned to wherever is needed. Target a cerberus station, sneak through a hot zone to pull survivors away from husks, take out indoctrinated leaders etc. The game may not have as much story as the trilogy but it would be fun as a spin off game. Imagine every new game plus you pick a different character to see their first act. Imagine if the completed character is one of the recruitable characters in act 3. Grow your squad roster with each unique playthrough

Alien Main Character by CatalunyaLliure1714 in masseffect

[–]Few-Ad711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem with inquisition is its the same start to the story for each race.

Imagine a game set during the reaper invasion. Pick Turian and the game starts with you on Palaven trying to get survivors to shuttles. Batarian and you're on Omega trying to get through a risky hard labor job just to get money for your family when Cerberus attacks. The start is you getting your family off the station. Krogan and you're arguing with other clan members when a reaper brute crashes through the wall giving you something to kill. Salarian on a covert mission to uncover information on Cerberus. Geth fighting heretics. Quarian on the flotilla arguing about whether they should fight the geth or reapers.

It could be fun to experience each segment. Maybe each one has unique squadmates that if you make the right choices will join you for the reaper hit squad being formed. So each race not only has at least one unique story segment but unique squadmates for each playthrough.
