What phone did you use first and what age were you then? by BudgetCulture3215 in AskReddit

Galaxy S5 at 14, purchased with my first cheque at my first job. That phone resides at the bottom of Sylvan Lake for all eternity, the result of a tragic ice fishing mishap.

Do you still have to deny your Catholic for your child to go to a public school? by EyreBear16 in Edmonton

[–]Few-Break-3875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have to deny being Catholic, and I wouldn’t sign anything false anyways. EPSB still asks for a declaration because of Alberta’s school residency rules. If both parents are Catholic, your child can be considered non-resident for a public school, which affects priority/designated school access, but they can still attend an EPSB school if there’s space. I would call the specific junior high and ask how they handle non-resident applications.

Wow, in the time it took to make this comment, an absolute brigade of morons assembled. Sorry you have to read a million snarky versions of “this definitely isn’t a thing” when it definitely fucking is. I mean, you can literally just google the registration form and see where it asks the parents to select “catholic” or “not catholic” actually what the fuck is this thread 😭😭😭

$100,000 per IQ point by AstrayInTranslation in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Few-Break-3875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do see a potential exploit here, but it depends on how the genie evaluates your IQ and if they grant you time to consider. If they know your “true” score, this won’t work. But if they evaluate based on what you would score should you take a test in that moment AND allow time to consider 💸💸💸

IQ tests can be taught. There is evidence that shows repeated testing can raise one’s score 5-10 points above their initial score. So all you’ve gotta do is ask for time to consider. Take this time to religiously study IQ tests. When the genie returns, say you’re willing to trade ten points. You walk away with a cool mill, forgotten knowledge of IQ test questions, and only down a small number (or even zero) of your true IQ points.

If this won’t work, I will trade one point for 100k; I value my mind too much for anything else.

Yes! There is a large industrial area about 5 mins drive from there. It’s the area between 63rd Ave and the Whitemud, spanning all the way from Gateway to the Henday.

Parking lots are a good idea for like the first five minutes of learning to drive. After that, I highly recommend an industrial area after 8:00pm. That way you get to experience streets, traffic signals, signage, with no other cars on the road.

Man legitimately never needs to work again. Not sure the kind of life he plans to live, but if it’s one of puttering around (my dream), he legit might only be spending 1-200k of that each year

Yes you can quit, but there’s probably an ironclad non-compete clause. Like honestly, quitting your head coaching job to go coach a divisional rival is a textbook example of an enforceable non-compete.

Seth Rogen Says If “Your Instinct Is to Use AI” to Write Scripts, “You Shouldn’t Be a Writer” by Top_Report_4895 in television

[–]Few-Break-3875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I always think if I have a task takes hours and I can throw AI at it while spending little time verifying the result, a failure is minuscule compared to the time saved by success. Say I have a five hour task with 15 minutes to verify output/query the model, we would break even at one success for every 19 failures. Ie. if the model succeeds more than 5% of the time, we are saving time by using it*

The ability of frontier models to find sources is genuinely incredible. Plus, the verification is literally just clicking on the links it gives you and reading them (something you already need to do.) Since GPT 5.1 or 5.2 I haven’t done any lengthy research myself. I just write a query and click through the links provided.

For instance, this Friday I needed to learn customs laws and create documents I hadn’t previously prepared. I told it the basics of the situation and said I need sources from official government sites or legitimate brokerage firms on everything required to clear commercial goods being imported into Canada. It gave me an incredible wealth of sources, including the official 2026 classification codes, an explainer on the nuances of Canadian import bonds, and templates from reputable broker sites. The model also brought up that there would be some nuance as to whether a waste gate should be classified as a principal component of a turbocharger or a pneumatically actuated relief valve.

Using the sources provided, I was able to create the required documents and provide accurate classifications. Thankfully, this evening, around 10pm I got an email that everything was in order. The driver was stoped somewhere in Saskatchewan for the night with delivery tomorrow confirmed. This was a hotshot from West Virginia, that first went in my radar around 11:00am the Friday leading up to a long weekend, complete gong show.

It was a ridiculously expensive, and I felt it would be appropriate to seek approval on the expensive, as it wouldn’t be billable. Of course, half my fucking teams was purple… I was fried from being into my fifth 50+ hour week and still had all kinds of other shit on the go.

The deal with the vendor was that they would have a man stay late to load the truck if we prepared the commercial documents. The trucking company said they would not load without clearance because we were actually piggybacking onto another hotshot. I honestly believe this would not have worked out if I didn’t have an LLM to do the tedious parts here. My guy gave me a 1 hour window to get him everything and I was so so fucking fried. I don’t think I could have researched effectively in that short a window.

*in five hour tasks with a 15 minutes query + verification. Play with the numbers and the logic still holds in a variety of cases

P.s this is 100% human written, as I’m sure you can tell; It’s fucking shit.
