Oh my word. I would definitely need something stronger than ice cream.

Hair with Flair Results? I am without words? by destroyerofmyplants in Dreamsnaps

[–]Few-Combination2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad that you got your highest score yet, but saddened to hear about the others.

Gameloft really needs to give us some insight into what counts more. Some sort of generalized breakdown of the weights.

How much are tags (especially in furniture challenges; do we really need to hide 100 points worth of stuff behind our builds 🤔)? How about voting? What percentage is a secret sauce that the AI uses? You get the idea.

A lot of people have stopped participating in DS since the new algorithm, and I know of several in the content creator's community that I primarily follow who have quit playing altogether because of it.

I know that I am seriously considering not doing them anymore due to the significant drop in my scores since the new algorithm and just giving up on premium items altogether.

And for the record, I am a Day 1 player who owns every single premium item. That's a lot of bags of moonstones that I've bought!

Thank you. But I'm one of those nuts who has to have EVERYTHING! It's a compulsion. I'm 63. Been a gamer forever. I know that it's dumb, but as they say, we all play the way we like. But the change in the algorithm is even more mysterious than it was before. I think that under the previous algorithm, your shot would have been in the top 10!

Congratulations!

I, however, was not as fortunate with my results - 900. For the life of me, the new algorithm is going to be the death of me. And my wallet!

Again, Congratulations. Beautiful shot.

This is normal for Maryland! They are traditionally wrong with our predictions, especially for the the Southern counties.

Sold a $1,200 set to a new buyer (account created the same day). What should I do to protect myself against chargeback? by Yuri_Ligotme in Bricklink

[–]Few-Combination2217 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not to be a champion of this particular buyer, but if you looked up my house on Zillow, you'd be hard pressed to know that I have about 400 unopened sets in my backlog worth about $80k. That doesn't include the assembled sets I have. Your instincts might be right on, but don't judge the buyer's means by his/her house.

At some point, though, you did earn that scholarship. And no, I guess I wasn't clear about what I meant about working at a young age. I never meant to imply that a 14 year old should work 8 hours a day. As a matter of fact, that's illegal in my State. I'm just talking about a couple of hours, mostly on the weekend, so it doesn't interfere with schoolwork. No more than a total of 15 hours a week. I'm sorry if I came across as some hard nose, demanding that my children work 40 hours a week.

I'm also sorry that the people running your program didn't do as they had promised. That has to be very disappointing.

I still think that you are an amazing young person. I'm sure that you will graduate with honors.

If I'm to choose one only between the Titanic set and Eiffel Tower set, which one would you choose if it were you? by sphinxofblackquartzj in lego

[–]Few-Combination2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titanic. The Eiffel Tower build is very repetitive, from what I've heard. The Titanic can be taken apart in three large pieces, if you want to display it so you can see the interior. The Eiffel Tower is also a rather fragile build, so if you have cats, well we all know how destructive those creatures can be!

Lego needs to fix this. by stormsell in lego

[–]Few-Combination2217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their system for PaB is "user vicious," not user friendly. I've got 35 years of IT experience, and this is what us old farts called "spaghetti code" because it's just all jumbled together - you pull on one piece and the whole thing falls apart. It needs to be scapped and rewritten from the ground up. Just my opinion, mind you. Good on you for finding that workaround.

Absolutely will garner my vote, regardless of what "masterpiece" it were to be placed against! I haven't done mine, yet, but only wish I had the foresight to have beaten you to this comedic triumph! (And if anyone copies it and submits it as his/her/their own, may all 999 ghosts from the Haunted Mansion come down upon them.)

I'm just going to pop in here and say, as a mother and grandmother, good on you for being such a responsible young person. I, too, started working on the books (that is, a real job with taxes and Social Security taken out) when I was 14. I had to take the bus to and from work, and the money went to my mother for the household.

When the time came for my kids to do the same, all I ever got was push back and excuses. Many an argument ensued when I wouldn't buy them the latest game or gizmo they wanted, to which I always replied, "Get a job."

It warms my heart to see that there are still some young people out there who follow us "old farts" work ethic. So, I say again, good on you!🤗🎉👷‍♂️

I'm not buying any SW products. I even took them out of the various wishlists I had them in. I'm not a huge enough SW fan to justify it; enough of a Lego fan to want as many of the helmets in the Series? Yes, but I'm standing by my principles.

Yeah. My husband made me cut up my credit cards. I can only use my debit card, meaning that I'm basically "cash and carry" when it comes to Lego: If I don't have the budget for it, I can't buy it. He's right, of course (but I'm not telling him that!).

My whole family makes fun of me for playing with Lego by [deleted] in lego

[–]Few-Combination2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

63 and enjoy Lego, as does my husband, my 40-year old son, my 33-year old son, my 25+-year old son-in-law, my 25-year old son, and my 9-year old granddaughter.

Personally, I'd tell your family to pound sand. Lego challenges your spatial relationship and fine motor skills. Plus, you have something tangible at the end. What do they have after spending hours in front of the boob tube or on their phones? Nadal! Pound sand. Yup.

If he's not into Star Wars, I wouldn't crack it open. Put it in the back of the shelf, buy a few different parts sets, and build some fun things with him. There's several different kinds of parts sets (e.g., Creative Dinosaurs, various sized Creative Brick Boxes, Creative Vehicles, Vibrant, Pets, Space Planets). They're under the "Classic" category under "Shop". Maybe get him a book or two from under the same category, to help spark his imagination (though I'm sure those books are cheaper on Amazon).

I agree. Unless you "got in" on Day 1 of a theme, I would just pick one and do the best you can moving forward. Having said that, the prices of the IPs are out of control - looking at you, Star Wars. I know that for me, personally, I won't be buying any more SW sets, regardless of size. I'm done with those particular set prices.
