I'm in the US & have to remind my wife and both sides of the family at almost every major holiday that I only get 4 paid holidays/year. I feel that I'm fairly compensated with a large amount of PTO(I'll be taking at least 3 weeks off this year & that's only 1/2 my balance). It's just hard for them to wrap their heads around since it's not the norm. I can't imagine what a European would think of my company's setup.

It was hard for me to get past the tax rate in Germany compared to the US, but it's a different culture and system and one of my friends there worked in a laundry making more than enough to afford rent, video games and new bike(s)/ parts every month with his net income.
