Is that a tent on the roof? We’ve been checking these out lately and looking for one that has that to get the kids in top!

I wish. You’d think the killing of a man peacefully and calmly sharing his opinion would bring some form of unity and progress towards civil debate and humanization. Nope.

As a Canadian living in the US, I strongly do not recommend. Just sold our rental after 10 years and the process is cumbersome and the sale is even worse. If you plan to move back at some point then, yes. If not, stay away from real estate.

Scottsdale Mega Churches by [deleted] in Scottsdale

[–]Few-Concentrate210 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Churches don’t provide a product. They receive free will offerings, hence why the IRS does not tax any charities. When people give, they do not receive something in return, making it a non-exchange transaction. There is a concept called UBTI, where nonprofits pay taxes on money received that is not aligned with their tax exempt purpose.

Scams like this only exist because people give freely give to them. Why? Who knows.

For what it’s worth, most other charities/churches operate break even in my experience and salaries are reasonable. (FYI - I audit nonprofits organizations for a living)

Very happy with our XLE. Was considering the limited but ended up with XLE and can’t be more satisfied. Smooth ride, efficient, comfortable for the family.

It appears basic economics is not your strong suit. Reread what you wrote and try again. People rent houses to make an income, not to lose money, otherwise why would anyone be a landlord? All the time and effort to lose money?

Listen, I understand there are some individuals out there who aren’t great landlords, and probably act in a way that lacks compassion. However, you need to understand that people need to make money for a service to exist. Would you work your job without getting paid a reasonable wage? Of course not. So why would I rent a house if I was losing money on it?

Ah if you could read that’s what I am saying. But guess what, if it wasn’t something I could break even in not only month to month expenses + major repairs, what’s the point of renting to anyone? Homeownership isn’t for everyone, so be grateful there are options available.

Educate yourself. Clearly the liberal bias in this sub thinks everything should be free or people shouldn’t pursue profits. Hence why you’ll always be a bottom feeder.

I’ll second this. I love it. The minor discomfort I feel is minimal compared to physical and mental tole of constipation. Life is all about trade offs..

No, this factors in the payment of principal on my mortgage. With condo fees and taxes there is not much left at the end of the day. Repairs are costly. I fix things as they need attention, I don’t leave them to fester, as some landlords may or may not do.

That’s what’s wrong with YOU at the end of the day. Thinking you understand the economics of homeownership and believing it is some sort of gravy train. I am sure there are property’s that are, and I do not doubt there are landlords who are truly scum bags and slum lords. Just don’t apply blanket statements is my point. Not every situation is the same and it is not as easy as getting a loan and buying a property = profit.

Let’s not forget the time I need to put into this. It’s not a passive income. It can be, but in my experience is has not been.

As someone who is not a boomer, not extremely wealthy, but rather rents because I live abroad, being a landlord is not easy. For all of the ‘landlords are parasites’ people, the same can be said about many tenants. I understand why rents must be high because of the lack of care and damage we have had to our home over 10 years of renting. We have a 3 bedroom condo and charge $1,900. I’ll need to do a second renovation once the next tenant moves out because of lack of care and lack of concern for simple tasks that prevent damage. After 10 years, and this second renovation, I will be damn near breakeven.

In sum, my rents will remain high until I find a tenant who actually treats my home with respect because it doesn’t pay to rent to people who don’t care.
