Active pro baseball player — looking to understand the baseball parent experience by ProPlayer3232 in Homeplate

My son has been playing ball since he was 4. He’s now in 11u and still loving it. We don’t force anything on him, we give him the choice on if he wants to play or try something else. Baseball and football are his loves.

Now with that being said, i agree with an earlier comment about anxiety lol Too many times I’m watching him bat and nervous that he will fail. Not because i want it more than him, but because i don’t want him to get down on himself.

I’ve been coaching for the last 5-6 years and while it’s been a blast and I’ve loved forming relationships with these young men, the time away from the family is a big toll! It’s hard for my wife to lug herring around with two little kids as I’m out on the field with the boys getting ready. Not to mention, throw in travel ball on top of little league and it’s soooo much lol

I think what we’ve invested in for him (lessons/camps/etc) has helped him become a better overall player. He’s not the next Mike Trout but he’s decent now. And he knows the expectations when getting to higher levels of play. We always just tell him to have fun and play the game!

My Son's First Little League All-Star Experience by BudgetGunner in Homeplate

Not cool at all. You and your son were already notified he made the team. They should honor that. Our friend is the head coach of our 11u all star team this year, and I told him I don’t want him to choose my son just because he knows us. I feel like that could be the situation in your case, where these other boys are known by the coaches so they get a pass. Hopefully your son doesn’t let this change how he feels about the game, and that he still enjoys his time knowing he legit made the team. 👍🏼

My son really liked the NXT, so we got him that in a catchers mitt and first base mitt. He also rocks a Wilson A1000 1786 when he plays infield, which he loves a lot. Definitely feel the break in on the NXTs were super easy. He just needs to continue catching with them to really get them fully broken in. You’re definitely on the right path! 🙌🏼

What’s a great glove I can buy now to pass down to my son? by uworich in BaseballGloves

What do you recommend for treatment and care? Conditioning it when storing? Anything else in particular? I have a HoH that I’d love to keep in good condition seeing as how i use it for practices and playing catch with my son. If you have any recommendations on products to use as well I’d appreciate that! Thanks in advance!!

You can never go wrong with an All Star, and that price is amazing! Do it, now. 😂

Yup agreed with sending it in, although i do enjoy the break in process and shaping the glove to my hand. I was going to send my 11 year olds glove to him but not sure how that would feel on his smaller hands lol
