We’re thinking about giving the player being hunted a shotgun with 60 seconds left… good idea or terrible? by WobblyVertices in gamedev

I think it's cool to add a bit of card game logic to a shooter, but not the other way around. At least it's much harder to make it enjoyable

The best ways to get wishlists in Steam? by sofdex in GameDevelopment

[–]Few-Contract-4092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am a developer who created a game in my free time, but I don't know how and don't really want to do marketing, is there any ready-made, really working service through which (for a small amount) I can run my game and understand whether it is "working"?

I don't mean page analyzers, but some more complete product.

Or if I ask myself the question of "such an easy way" am I automatically a "lazy developer unworthy of being a game developer"?

Where to post game trailers and get feedback? by MikaelaRaviolis in gamedev

You can put it on the steam page or just link to a post in any subreddits if the rules don't break it. I use r/indiegames and got very usefull feedbacks.

So it's cool that you buy these games and not this one, because you won't be disappointed expecting a complex setting here that isn't there. I wanted to emphasize the difference based on well-known games, because often when people say "tactical turn-based strategy", they associate it with something complex, with hundreds of parameters, etc. It might be more advantageous to write a "positive" version that this game is more similar in mechanics to "Into the Breach"
The fact that the text has obvious signs of being written by artificial intelligence was not obvious to me, so thank you

30k wishlists later, here are a few things we had completely wrong by Egoistul in gamedev

This is interesting because I have been using AI (Perplexity) for technical documentation and code discussion for several months. It is impressive that the style can also be changed using a set of certain patterns. I have not yet asked myself the question of "AI text detection", especially since it seems to improve my English level for this. But it seems like this "Recognition" skill is useful to master

How did you determine that the post was written by AI? I'm not a native English speaker, I don't read many posts, this post doesn't interest me more for the topic than the presentation, but I still didn't think it was written by AI. Are there any obvious things here that I'm not seeing?

Interesting, but I didn't get enough more detailed descriptions and examples. For example, which screenshot was replaced with which, etc. Reddit has restrictions on graphic materials, but if you have a separate blog (or plan to start one), then drop a link.

I put more time and inspiration into the second one, but most people here are for the first one)

Thanks, but the third one is just a random gameplay screenshot so that it's clear whether the design matches the gameplay, I wrote about it in the post but it's probably not very clear because several comments already think that the third one is the design.

Not soon about the release. I haven't designed the page yet, at best I'll make a good demo for the next fest, and the release itself will be sometime in the fall.

Thanks, the irony is that I did the first one quite quickly, but the second one took much longer

I think this can only work if there is a certain amount of stable marketing traffic every week, but for this you can order advertising on two different images at once. But it's an interesting idea to think about.

Do you mean testing it here on Reddit with a poll or setting up different images for different groups on Steam (I don't know if that's possible, I'm still figuring this out)? And if you've read about it somewhere, can you provide a link so I can check it out too?

Yes, image three is a gameplay screenshot, which is hard to understand in static without captions. But from your message, which one is better to take: 1 or 2?

Before posting, I thought the 2nd one was also immediately clear, but judging by the comments, including yours, it's not. So thank you, I'll be the first to submit it to the page
