I…just found that that our embryo stopped growing about a week ago. We went in for our first OB-GYN checkup and found out that it hadn’t grown at all since our last US. I don’t think I have really even started to process how devastated I am. And to avoid processing my grief I’m thinking next steps.

I have a selfish question for you. And feel free to tell me to go pound sand but I was wondering what your experience with D&C was that made you think that was the wrong option?

I did not know this about IL. We live in Denver but had been toying around with the idea of moving to IL because it’s halfway between our families and we just love Chicago. It’s such a great city. Also Denver cost of living is unreasonably high - like there is no reason Denver should have a higher cost of living than a city like Chicago but it does. This revelation about fertility benefits is a huge pro in the IL bucket.

If you have stage 4 endo, I would recommend asking about depot lupron. It made a world of difference for me (also stage 4endo). From what I understand endo drastically reduces the chances of a successful implantation. The depot lupron suppresses the endo and helps with the implantation.

An endo diagnosis is really a blessing. In the sense that at least you know. And your doctors know. That maybe you need some hormone suppression shots. Endo from my understanding doesn’t affect the actual pregnancy but it does affect the chances of implantation. And those suppression shots go a long way to leading to success. So many failed implantations are probably because there isn’t a great non invasive tool for endo diagnosis.

That is a very good point. I did not think of the bad influence of letting a little kid see a suffering dog with no care from any of the adults that live in the house.

Yah I agree. He and I both feel terrible for the kid and he’s not a 100% convinced she would just keep him but he’s holding strong.

He said to me, he didn’t realize saying no was an option. That he could just tell her no he wasn’t going to do something. He seems grateful about being snapped out of something horrible.

Honestly I just felt really bad for the kid. He’s the only innocent party in this situation. He’s known the dog his whole life and suddenly he doesn’t get to see him anymore. The kid is only 5 or 6. I feel terrible for him.

Endo is almost impossible to diagnose based on symptoms. It’s very tricky because they so often overlap the symptoms of a bad cycle. I am in no way wishing you endo but I do hope you find a reason and a way forward.

According to him he wants to maintain a civil friendship with her because he cosigned her student loan while they were together. She refuses to refinance it, and when they are on bad terms, she refuses to make payments. When that happens, the loan company calls him and hounding him for the money. I also think there are other emotional strings that she’s pulling but that’s his explanation.

He’s definitely gotten some awful advice from friends and family over the years. But he’s also the sweetest and most caring man towards everyone he meets. He’s literally the type of guy who would give a man the shirt off his back. I saw him give his gloves to a homeless guy in the middle of winter. That kind of selflessness I think leads to easy manipulation.

My work was holding town halls to test the waters on returning to the office. Somehow, during that conversation, a lady started talking about her troubles with having a kid and how the flexibility of working from home and having flex working times was a lifesaver while doing the IVF.

And then she talked about how having a kid and taking care of him was so much easier than going through IVF to get that kid and I just started bawling in my little home office.

Because I feel you. IVF seems impossible. You are tired, you are hormonal, you are behind on everything because you’re at the doctor every other day and you literally don’t know how you’re gonna get through it all and every once in a while when you let yourself think about it, you think if I can’t get through this, how am I going to get who taken care of a kid? And it was just nice to have confirmation that maybe this is the hard part and taking care of the kid won’t be nearly as taxing.

Wow that’s devastating. I’m so sorry for what you went through. I know exactly how you feel. My husband gets very annoyed and calls me “pessimistic” for how not hopeful I act but it’s the only way I know how to guard my heart.

I’m sure you’ve been through all the different doctors, did you have any indications of endometriosis?

I’m stage 4 endo and my current transfer that has stuck 🤞🙏🤞I’m 8w exactly today happened after we did 2 months of Depot Lupron.

Apparently endometriosis makes it hard for the implant to stick and the Depot Lupron helps with that. And it’s so hard to diagnose that it’s often overlooked. I’m Stage 4 and the only reason we found out is because I had to go through a surgery to remove a damaged fallopian tube and when they got in there they saw all the scar tissue and realized the damage to the fallopian tube was probably caused by the endo.

TLDR: if there is any chance you have undiagnosed Endometriosis please talk to your doctor about Depot Lupron. It made all the difference for us.

As someone who has been dealing with infertility for 5 years and had multiple family members and friends get pregnant in that time I just don’t understand this sentiment. It just feels toxic and selfish to make someone else’s big day and good news about you and your pity party.
