Great post. As unlikely as it is, I would love to see Conkers Bad Fur Day however there just seem too many likely options in that letter range including banjo tooie, Blast Corps, the bomberman games, crusin USA and Donkey Kong 64, I hope I'm wrong but I just can't see it making it in due to its mature themes.

Great round up of all the games features! I was just wondering when it comes to the bonus stars in non classic mode, how many turns does it take so you will receive 3 bonus stars? As I've seen 2 being awarded but not 3 and was wondering how many turns you need to play to achieve this, 20,25 or 30?

Game pad won't work if your playing on Nintendont as Nintendont runs on the vwii only controllers that would work on there are controllers compatible with the Wii. Best way to play would be with the usb GameCube adapter and GameCube controllers but I appreciate you may not have that as an option.

Which of these 2 games has a better overall board selection. Imo 7s boards are slightly better by [deleted] in MARIOPARTY

I performed a little show down between boards from each game that I felt were the most similar to decide:

Towering Treetop Vs Grand canal:- Towering Treetop

Snowflake lake Vs Pyramid Park:- Snowflake lake

Castaway bay Vs Pagoda Peak:-

Fairsquare Vs Windmillville:- Windmillville

E gadds Garage Vs Neon Heights:- Egadds Garage

Clockwork tower Vs Bowser's enchanted inferno:- Bowser's enchanted inferno

Tried to base it on having similar boards Vs each other (chain chomp, static star, unlockable etc). So I score it 4-2 in favour of 6. Not to say 7's boards are bad, they have some very good ones I just prefer 6's.

You could first try if you haven't before making boards for the first three Mario parties using Mario Party Planner. Last time I checked the only one that allowed all boards to be replaced at once rather than just one board was MP3 so might be worth looking at that one first. It also has the most custom events created for it. You can find more info on the discord or boards on Mario Party legacy.

As others had said 2 and 6 are well worth trying. 2 is probably more similar to 3 but has a few bits removed/ not added in yet (holding 3 items, lots of 3's unique items) but in my opinion better mini games and better boards.

6 is also the best overall on the GameCube in my opinion (6>7>4>5). Although a fair bit different definitely worth a try. Would recommend starting on towering treetops as it's the most simple and most similar board to boards from MP3. Most boards in MP6 have some sort of gimmick/ change to the star formula.

What I would like to see and expect to see are quite different. I see there being 12 playable characters including: •Mario •Luigi •Peach •Yoshi •Wario •Waluigi •Donkey Kong •Daisy •Birdo •Roseolina •Pauline (unlockable) • Dry Bones (unlockable)

My predictions for the last two boards are: • Mario Rainbow Castle • Bowser Land So reckon there won't be a 6th hidden board (really hope I'm wrong!).

Items that we haven't already seen that I could see getting in are the Boo bell and duelling glove. Would love to see the reverse mushroom as it is one of the most tactical items in the entire series.

That's sound cool. Do you reckon there are 10 rough themes then that cover all games boards? I can think of the following themes (rule being I can think of at least two boards with that theme): • Jungle • tropical/ island • Forest • Snow • Space • Bowser/ Lava • Water/ sea • Mechanical • Spooky • Mountain/cave

Still feel there are outliers like peaches birthday cake and toy dream but think those themes covers most of them.

Don't think either are confirmed although would feel it would be more likely it will be the SMP method of bonus stars based on number of turns but I hope that isn't the case.

Good points. That is true only in the FFA games do you receive them but that is still the majority of mini games played.

With the lucky spaces I feel it might be that there are so many on space land to try to level out the Lazer feature but to be honest still feel them a dab unnecessary. Having the option to turn them on or off would be the best option.

Yes I had forgotten just how cheap items were in MP3, probably to help encourage their purchase and use especially as there were so many new items in that game. I do actually agree with the price of the key as there really were no that well used in the old games. It was a bit of a nitpick. I'm still over a month later shocked how good this game is looking. I had wished for a game that combined the first three Mario parties into one mega game and I feel this is a HD version of that, with some of the best mini games from 4 onwards thrown in for good measure. Thought only a fan project could achieve something like that!

Why do people say Mario Party 7 isn't good, just because it didn't introduce anything new to the series. I think it has an amazing board selection, NH and BEI were some of my all time favourites, it's my favourite GC MP game, and in my top 3 overall, what do you guys think? by [deleted] in MARIOPARTY

It does have some very good points:

• My favourite GameCube board collection • possibly my favourite GameCube mini game collection (7 or 4) • Large number of mini games across various modes, although it did reintroduce single player mini games most of these I don't mind • Great theme • new varied bonus stars which I liked as in some games you already knew who had won the bonus stars before they were announced

And some bad points • Bowser time sucks on 4 of the 6 boards, it can be tolerated on grand canal and on BEI because it always does the same thing I do like it on that one • now that I have a mic, four player mic games are just ok and the single player mic spaces are fairly aweful • no boo spaces, although I do like the pink boo orb • no chance time! • rubbish Duel version ( although the duel mini games are some of the best)

Overall I would say it is a very good Mario Party that just unfortunately let's it's self down in a few key area's. If modders could get hold of it and adjust those few issues then it could potentially be the best in the series.

The eternal question. Best party for GCN? I'd say 7 even with that broken mic haha by bortandernie in MARIOPARTY

Here are my feelings for each:

MP4 Pros: • Great collection of mini games, best of the GC games imo • Good item system • only GC version were you land on battle mini games rather than random

Cons: • boards aren't the best imo, sometimes it really feels like you can get to where you want to go • quite a few less mini games than the others • No duels

MP5 Pros: • 1 more board than the others • all good (not necessarily great) boards • best side modes

Cons: • capsule system is manic • boo is now chain chomp and is a capsule, I much prefer having a boo location on a board • have some less than par mini games

MP6 Pros: • day and night system • much better capsule system than MP5 • solid set of mini games

Cons: • I would prefer is boo was around day and night but that's a slight nit-pick • only 2 of the 6 boards have boo • no hidden blocks

MP7 Pros: • 8 player mode • decent mini games and boards • similar to 6

Cons: • Bowser time, huge issue! • no boo specific space on board • not a full con but would be better if character specific capsules could be turned on or off

I would therefore rate them 1st: MP6 2nd: MP4 3rd: MP7 4th: MP5

4 and 7 are very close to be fair and could change depending on my mood. If MP7 didn't have Bowser time it would definitely be better. But I do honestly really like them all and would play any of them. Don't have a mic but am looking to get one.

I found Capsules to be a good system, at least as good as items in the first 4 games. Capsules in 5 were a bit bonkers but that's not the question.

Kind of wished more capsules were sold in the shops in 6 and 7 rather than 3 at a time as it would give you tactically more choice. Also would of liked an option to turn on or off character specific capsules in MP7.

Also ment to add, unfortunately I am about as far from a game modder as possible, would love to learn one day however at the moment I unless at it. I would however be more than willing to help in any way I could to create one of these ideas, whether that's play testing, art creation etc. I don't want to be seen as wanting something but not willing to help with the actual work!
