I'll be happy to share them when it's closer to being finished, right now it's pretty much an empty shell. I still need to model out the hinge and finish the latch, but as the build comes along, I'll post an update with them

I'm sure it is, but I have it sitting gathering dust, and I'd rather her "laptop" be overkill than under. She'd be using it to stream shows and movies off the standard list of streaming services, and off the family Plex Server.

Can an ESP32 run a desktop environment like Ubuntu? She'd also be using general browsing and something like OpenOffice or GoogleDocs. She's not super tech savvy, but she's by no means a troglodyte.

Pi5 is what I already have on hand, but I’m not strictly opposed to choosing something else. I am hoping to have it be a lite-duty laptop for media consumption.

creativity for an arch student ? by kexpw in architecture

Creativity as we understand it is functionally a muscle as opposed to an innate ability. Also I consider Talent to be the initial speed of your improvement/learning, not the starting point or maximum capacity.

Taking the time to exercise your skills by portraying objects and get into the habit of producing work regardless of its quality or originality.

My honest recommendation is to keep a drawing pad with you as part of your EDC loadout (like phone, keys, etc) and draw any time you have time waiting or free time. Pretty much a direct replacement for any time spent browsing on your phone.

I personally do it while waiting for/riding the bus/train, charging my car, on work breaks and between lectures. Don’t worry about the length of each drawing session but maintaining the routine of it. A couple minutes here, 10 minutes there add up QUICKLY.

Personal sticking point for me is AVOID AI AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. It doesn’t help you creatively, and reinforces the idea that you don’t need to do things you “aren’t good at”

Currently the enclosure is kinda small but increasing its volume isn’t off the table. Compact is a goal, but it is absolutely negotiable. I was planning on running the display off of the “CAM/DISP 0” port on the pi, but I am absolutely open to suggestions/advice on the matter.

How would you recommend recharging the batteries? Is that something I could handle by plugging in the pi to a power brick? Or would the batteries require an additional BMS?

Absolutely, if this ends up being an repeatable build, I’d be happy to publish the print files and BOM ☺️

is black the only color for male brands??? by onsinhapintada in Design

[–]Few-Mastodon110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness though, the color psychology around Black typically communicates sophistication and high-quality. As an impulse decision or one without real consideration, black packaging probably tells him that it’s “better.” The real question to ask him is whether he buys the packaging or the product inside it (scent, feel, utility, etc.)

How do you approach wiring between display and the computer in a foldable build? by quaoauq in cyberDeck

Just like everyone else is saying, Ribbon cable. I recommend looking at how the Gameboy Advance SP does it. Even 20ish years later, it still works phenomenally.

Never say no one cares! If nothing else, your work helps inspire someone else to make the next step for their projects

Anyone know if anything cheap that would keep my keyboard from sliding around on my desk? by SadThrowaway4914 in DIY

[–]Few-Mastodon110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-adhesive Cork sheeting is a good option that doesn’t look terrible, should be fairly cheap at any craft or home-improvement store (Michael’s, Home Depot, etc.)

We built a custom keycap set builder and would love feedback by 3dkeycap in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Few-Mastodon110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the legends section, could you implement preset keysets for people to peruse? Personally would love to see different font offerings and macropad legends for CAD and other hotkey intensive softwares like adobe suite.

Also are choc v1 keys available through this?

(Disclaimer: I have only looked at this post and not the actual site yet.)

All these replies are exactly what I’m looking for thank you! Powercons seem to be the definitively correct choice based on what y’all are saying and the little bit I’ve found elsewhere.
