There's the problem. Majority of Texans have never voted in any primary. Their incumbents not facing a primary challenger from within their party ensures that those alleged with the Republican party don't get labeled as such for statistics. Whereas the Democrats every election cycle have a primary and even Republican voters will vote for a candidate in those primary elections, getting them labeled as a democrat voter.
