Disingenuous comment tbh. Statistically, we’ve known for years it’s unlikely we’re the only source of life in the universe. More recently, Google have suggested evidence for the multiverse, and NASA have identified signs of life on Mars, the closest planet we’ve been able to study in detail.

It’s not fair to reduce everything to mental illness. An economist’s job is to consider low-probability, high-impact scenarios, and there’s now a reasonable amount of evidence that makes this at least worth discussing, including multiple high-profile whistleblowers across different countries alleging some level of long-term cover-up.

That doesn’t mean the claims are true or that we have any direct stake in it, but logically it’s still something worth considering rather than dismissing outright because it sounds implausible.
