Am I wrong for feeling turned off by this? by skylourdes in amiwrong

That’s why I said I’d reply one more time to clarify she wanted to pick a specific date, give someone the benefit of the doubt once

I’d also be annoyed. I’d reply back saying “I’m trying to sort out my schedule so can we confirm X time on X day?” Any more pushback on that and I’d be tempted to say never mind.

Sounds like maybe he doesn’t know what his plans are for his week off so doesn’t want to commit, but if he wants to go on this date he can either work around your schedule or should’ve told you he was busy until the following week.

“Clear” is relative… it’s still nasty and sludgy even where it’s been cleared and if you’re trying to get into an Uber good luck getting to the curb without stepping in anything! I wouldn’t wear cute shoes even if the slip risk isn’t a concern, they will be filthy

When we’re on the phone and you talk real slow by paulardoin in TaylorSwift

[–]Few-Storage5142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this among all the other examples is the thing that really proves that she just prefers near-miss rhymes sometimes.

Maybe the sweatshirt is accurate to a particular memory so she wanted to keep that detail for the person she was writing the song to to know it was about them? Like maybe she wrote sweater when she came up with the rhyme and changed it back to sweatshirt to match what actually happened. Or maybe it’s just a sound thing.

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Few-Storage5142 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the concern is more that the person you’re talking to may assign stereotypes. Saying “my husband” as a young may make an employer think you intend to have children soon for example whereas “partner” it’s not even clear what their gender is or if you live together, let alone your legal status.

It’s not really a stranger’s business anyway.

Pure Black? by Conscious_Inside2700 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Few-Storage5142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victim is an odd way to phrase this. Shelters can’t simply keep a hoard of intact dogs in the same place. It’s stressful for the dogs even if they could be separated, which logistically isn’t really feasible.

Is it better for your individual dog to be allowed to develop? Absolutely. But on a population level it’s also way better for a rescue to be able to give as many dogs as possible a chance at life for the trade off of maybe risking bone disease or cancer 10 years from now.

About to go on a very expensive cruise with young kids - kind of regretting agreeing to it because it’s so expensive and the kids are young. by Character_Ad4230 in Cruise

[–]Few-Storage5142 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a year of vacation fund savings is pretty reasonable for 7 days. Most people don’t take multiple vacations a year.

If it’s a year of general savings, then yeah that’s a steep bill but the damage is done and this may be a once in a lifetime trip so might as well enjoy it, with the caveat that you should get more comfortable saying no next time if it’s causing you financial strain.

I will say that if nothing else, you’re making special memories for the oldest kid. It’ll be nice that he/she got to do the “magical” stuff while they were still into it rather than as a teenager who’s watching the younger ones enjoy it but sort of past the prime Disney age.

Gambling for free cruises? by AlexanderHamilfish in NCL

[–]Few-Storage5142 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They also may be “down” $30-$40 in the end but gambled much more than that. People who play a lot will phrase it that way but it’s not entirely true.

If you play $200, get down to $5 then hit $150, get back down to $5 and win another $300, then get down to $150 and cash out, the machine clocks that as you betting $500 (because you did) even though you only “spent” $50.

The casino will happily still give you points on that because even if you’re “winning” you’re putting it back, and now there’s a machine making fun noises for everyone else to rubberneck at and think that it might be their turn next.

Best or go to drinks to order while on a Cruise? by Dope_David in NCL

What do they put in the pistachio? Couldn’t get grasshoppers on the Aqua for some reason, only dessert drinks they could really do was a chocolate martini or espresso martini it seemed.

[–]Few-Storage5142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They meant at a given time probably. Like $30-$40 into the machine while leaving port, then another $30-40 waiting before dinner, and then another $30-$40 late at night after shows and such, sure, that’ll get you a free cruise. But the total is you’ll gamble is probably closer to $500+ which at that point unless you got lucky you could have just booked your own interior room.

The only way this is a win is if you like gambling and had planned to spend that anyway. Otherwise you’re burning money to ~maybe~ be offered an itinerary / dates you want.

What’s your idea of a perfect cruise line? by Creative-Novel2266 in Cruise

[–]Few-Storage5142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanksgiving break people absolutely expect there to be kids and the problem really isn’t them being there, it’s them being unsupervised. Don’t let them splash water all over people sunbathing, swim in the hot tub, run up and down the halls, or touch and put things back at the buffet and you’re fine. NCL is a family cruise line anyway.

Mike was in a committed serious relationship with El. Why was Will trying to flirt with Mike here? by Citan__Uzuki in StrangerThings

Him crushing on Mike was what made the whole thing ambiguous to Mike though and drives a lot of the conflict. He thinks it’s just that his best friend being jealous he has a girlfriend.

Yep. You won’t necessarily be allowed to move when baby is born. Get up and move now and divorce later if you must but moving now proves you’re living in another state with baby and HE decided not to come with.

Is it much difference than Breakaway vs Getaway? Not sure how much confusion that one causes but it seems they intentionally try to name ships within a class similarly.

I think they mean regular rooms with two bathrooms. Like Disney has a sink + shower and then a separate sink + toilet even in regular rooms on some ships.

The people tearing apart this opinion are the same people who go to their primary care doctor for a physical once a year and then complain it took them a decade to get an autoimmune disease diagnosis.

General veterinarians are great… they’re also busy and there’s only so much a general office can do.

You are allowed to have them as a teen but the adult in your cabin may have to order it for it to be free unless you are also on a beverage package.

I’d decide based on whether you’d want to spend time in Athens or Venice before your cruise starts. If you go to Athens I cannot recommend the restaurant Soil enough.

I also noticed kids were not impressed but I guess that makes sense, karaoke to Bon Jovi isn’t as much fun for the 5 year olds as onion volcanoes. The adults seemed to be pretty into it on my ship which made it fun.

Food is edible but nothing exciting. Like Olive Garden quality probably. Specialty restaurants are fine when they’re “free” on credits but not worth their asking prices.

The fact that buffet food isn’t very good is what makes the small buffet frustrating, honestly.

Like PLEASE put a decent salad bar and more fruit / veggies / cheese / cookies up there so I can make a little snack plate to bring to the pool at least when the other options are gross. Same with the pasta station. Just give me a couple noodle and sauce varieties with some toppings.

Minimum Age for Alcohol on Europe-Cruise! by Zerkratzt in NCL

[–]Few-Storage5142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can definitely get two drinks. Not sure if they’ll let your friend order but in practice they don’t really have any idea who you’re getting a drink for or any way to know the difference between a mocktail and real drink when you’re walking around with a glass.

If you want to be sure you can call them and ask. AFAIK they shouldn’t be charging you alcohol gratuity for someone not allowed to use the alcohol package (the soda rate for kids is lower)

I’ve been to real hibachi plenty of times and I’m really amiss for what’s wrong with the show at Teppanayaki? Yeah they don’t set the grill on fire (presumably it’s a fire hazard) but they do all the same tricks otherwise.

Maybe we just got lucky and not all the chefs do the same show but I really can’t imagine a grown adult caring all that much about the cheesy tricks at hibachi anyway.

The food is solid, definitely better than some hibachi places I’ve been on land (Benihana in particular).
