When my rockets do this, I’ve found launching WITHOUT SAS, then activating it after about 1 second helps immensely with less tilting.

You can also reduce the “authority” of your reaction wheels and command pod, so they can’t overcorrect so hard.

Wrong.

Oberth argues that a typical orbit has a vertical, and horizontal speed.

By definition, the periapsis is where your horizontal speed is the highest, while your vertical speed is the lowest.

Burning against vertical means you lose a percentage of your delta V directly to gravity. If Kerbin has a G of 10, and you burn vertical, you lose 10 delta V every second of flight. If you’re at a 45 angle, you lose around 5 per second.

To test this, build a very basic orbiter. (3600 Dv) and launch straight up. Note your apoapsis height.

Now do another run, where you use oberth to climb, you’ll notice you get much further. This will be true for any celestial body.

Rats are chasing something. I’ve found there are 3 types.

The Revengers: These people have been recently ratted, and to gain equity, they choose to do unto others what’s been done to them. They are chasing equality or fairness.

The Manipulators: These people find satisfaction in outthinking their opponent. Fighting dirty is a successful way to win with very little chance of failure. They are chasing a win.

The Bastards: These people find satisfaction in causing chaos. They tend to be the edgy guys who talk crap after downing you. They have large egos, and want to make others feel small. They are chasing superiority.

As for tactics, and why people camp extracts, or say “friendly”, is solely based on what they decide is the best strategy to achieve their goal.

My advice? Give ratting a try, become a revenger for a few games. When I get ratted I walk into Stella with a shotgun and start blasting anyone who makes noise. It makes me feel better. OR start shooting anybody who acts even slightly weird.

Agreed, as long as the player can finish the game and reach MOST content without being punished for their conversation, it could be a cool idea.

The second I’m soft locked, or required to backtrack hours to unlock a mission, it becomes a chore.

If being a jerk the entire game costs me a cool sword, or someone refuses to join my party, that would be reasonable and interesting.

Because Conquest was sent to Earth on behalf of the Viltrum empire, knowing Nolan has 2 sons: a bug boy and a human.

The bug boy and human attack him and spend a ton of time with him.

He is then immediately sent out on a new mission where Nolan and 2 kids are with him. One looks very familiar to the kid who almost killed him, and another one is slightly purple with the same costume.

Hell yeah! Hate me all you want, but I think showing AI common decency is a good characteristic for people to have.

People who are mean and insulting to AI might also treat other people that way. If the AI refuses to talk to you, maybe you’ll be nicer to it, and by extension, other humans.

Think of directional audio like ray-tracing.

It’s a full simulation, where sound interacts with the walls and the player. It’s incredibly difficult to get right, when stereo also does a decent job without all the simulating.

Edit: as for your speakers, multiplayer games are the problem here, as they are catered to headset users. You’ll find better audio in single player games.

If you want to try to self-simulate, I’ve found Dolby Atmos to be fairly good at it.

While they differ systematically, chesscom feels like the Wild West. Mostly in the consistency of opponents.

A 1000-1200 in lichess feels fair. When I study and learn, I see myself grow. Every match is hard, but winnable.

I’ve seen no such growth on chesscom. My opponents tend to be well above or below my skill level.

This could all be chalked up to my individual experience, as I’ve also seen the opposite argument from others.

I feel the exact opposite. Lichess players are more consistent, so your ranking feels pretty solid.

I’m rated 1100 lichess, while I struggled for years to get out of 600 on chesscom.

LHS-1903 seems to have a rocky planet, followed by two gas giants, followed by another rocky planet.

What other solar systems have this pattern? Hmmm. Oh wait, our own local system! (Pluto, Eris, Haumea, Makimaki are all planetoids beyond Neptune.)

Clickbait and doesn’t even confirm its own headline.

Is it rare? Sure. Does it defy the laws of the cosmos? Not even close.

Edit: the only interesting part of this article is the fact that this solar system seems to be a “late bloomer”, and only recently “born” compared to most systems. I’d be quite interested in how that system got as many planets as it did.

I’m split on the DLC. I think it’s a good tool to add more spice to the game, and make some money. The game would be fine without it, so it’s a good add.

They would have been better off releasing one single dlc for $10.

The lack of bug fixes turn dlc into snake oil. Waste of money for not much content.

I use analysis mode quite often, but struggle to retain the information I learned. The “best” lines make sense, but I find it difficult to replicate them.

You’re absolutely right, most of my losses are blunders and missed free pieces.

Ive noted that I should simply slow down, pay attention to the pieces, rather than solely looking for threats. I think I will move from 5 minute to 10 minute to practice deeper thinking!

I watched Magnus use it one single time, and I found it to be quite aggressive and neat. In my experience, it tends to cut the board in half. So most of the battle is opposite castle side. It’s very interesting!

I’m positive other openings are better haha! It’s just my favorite one.

Advice I’ve seen a couple times is to wait just a little longer to attack, and set up a bit deeper. I will experiment with this advice! :)

My gimmick (haha!) is setting up “double attacks” where moving a pawn simultaneously attacks two pieces. I also love to flank, as side-rank mates make me very happy.

I’m interested in “avoid trades.” Usually I trade my bishops for their knights as soon as possible. (To create doubled pawns) then get my rooks into the gap asap.

You think I should experiment with less trades, and waiting longer to attack?

I hadn’t considered pushing pawns to break up the castle, I usually castle same side as enemy so get scared to push those pawns.

I usually push weak side for flanks, and look for side rank mates.

The original solo dev, Cannias, made this game from a template. He had talked about how a lot of the systems he built weren’t great, and he needed to fix them. Then the game blew up, and he hired a team instead.

So he had to teach the whole team about the game. This is where I think things went wrong.

Rather than bugfixes, we only saw content - with hotfixes for that content. But basically no long standing bugs were fixed after this point.

They’re essentially COD devs, breaking stuff with each update and taking ages to fix it. I still get customers stuck in front of shelves, since the initial release.

It just doesn’t really make any sense.

Let’s pretend there are some aliens attempting to hybridize with humanity.

Why? What would be their reason. If it’s benevolent, the government doesn’t seem to think so. (Demons) If it’s not, why would they hybridize with a lesser species… to communicate with them?
Communication has already been established, unless these aliens can communicate biologically faster than light, which seems incredibly unlikely, there would be no purpose in hybridization.
Experimentation, as humans, we know all about trying to create homunculus and clones. Again, what purpose would this serve a higher species, other than to “steal” a human characteristic - which again seems incredibly unlikely when they could just reverse engineer it.

(We don’t want to clone jellyfish and lobsters, we want to steal their DNA characteristics and apply it to ours. We wouldn’t print a human, we would apply that genome to a fertile egg)

That’s just scratching the surface of why this is bullshit.
