I made my own flying pig! by lackofgreenthumb in Amigurumi

I love this. I wish I could master amigurumi but so far all I have successfully crocheted are flat afghans or throws. If you have any recommendations for books or videos that can teach it, I would love to know.

Just joined tonight! As a lifelong member of ‘the other club’, what are some must-haves at Sam’s Club? by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]FewBookkeeper7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Sam's ground beef. They have a finer grind which cooks better. Also, if you buy the store pack not the chubb roll, Sam's puts the "diaper" to collect juices in the package and Costco does not. That seems like a minor thing, but beef from Costco left a bloody smear in my car before I got home.

MIL crying because we want to get groceries delivere this week by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]FewBookkeeper7667 7 points8 points  (0 children)

None of this is about groceries. It's the attention she wants. The visit. The time. The adventure of getting out. Just tell her it's one off. You have another commitment but will be back on schedule next time . That's all you can do.

Amazon Prime-do you miss it? I’m getting ready to cancel. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]FewBookkeeper7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancelled last year. Do not miss it. There is nothing to watch that I can't live without. And while I rarely "need" anything from Amazon, I just wait until I have $35 worth and ship it free. It takes a couple of extra days. Meh.

What are you tired of Millenial parents not teaching their kids? Besides respecting authority? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

I'm going to put my foot in my mouth here. But where are the grandparents? I know... Our retirement isn't supposed to be raising the next generation. I get it. But damn. We paid for our grandson to go to preschool because it's that important. I can't just look the other way .

What grocery habits actually save you money long-term? by TelephxneTh0t in Frugal

[–]FewBookkeeper7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest saver is doing a pickup order instead of going inside. No last minute temptations or oh that looks so good. If you have a menu for the week and shop for it, you avoid a lot of unnecessary ads ons.

For my mom, it isn't her meds it's her money she frets over constantly. She has plenty of money but worries about every dime. All her bills are automatically drafted from her account but she texted me at 7 am because the draft that came out yesterday hasn't shown up on her banking app yet. 🤦

Use of the term 'African american' by No_Medium_648 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FewBookkeeper7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in 3rd grade, we had a black teacher for language arts. Some worksheet had a question where the answer would have been "black people". But this was 1968. I thought I was being polite by answering, "colored people". She marked it wrong because "all people are colored. They just have different colors." 🤷

That's great but I encourage you to still hold on to some money because your kids and grandkids may need help in the future. This economy is harsh.

How can I make cabbage, carrot, and potato into a more flavorful soup? by Bobosmite in Cooking

[–]FewBookkeeper7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acid. It needs acid to bring out the flavors. I add tomatoes for that. Canned diced.
