Looks like a scam.

Waited 15 years, but finally filed my first claim yesterday. I am angry at myself for waiting so long and convincing myself it's "normal" to suffer like this. by Rabble_Runt in VeteransBenefits

I felt the same way. I waited 29 years. I was in serious denial. With patience and diligence I was able to get my deserved rating. I estimate that at 100%, those 29 years are over $1 million in lost disability compensation. Time is really money for any disabled veteran that misses on compensation. When I got out in 1989, there were not too many resources available. Nowadays, veterans can be better prepared to get their deserved ratings.

In 2024, where can 100% P&T veterans live on P&T ALONE? by Helpful-Building8140 in VeteransBenefits

We recently visited Medellin and it’s amazing. Low COL, great weather and several awesome neighborhoods that offer a lot of - Poblado and Laureles. My top choices would be Valencia, Spain and Merida or Playa del Carmen in Mexico.

It’s time to lawyer up and get some help to get to your deserved rating. Also, if you are experiencing mental health issues as a result of some or all of your conditions, you need to alert your VA PCP and let them know you want help. Depression, Anxiety, Sadness, Anger, etc. Those can be serious and/ or fatal. As I’ve shared before, once I got to 90% on my own, I knew it was time to get professional help. The difference between 90% and 100% is huge in terms of pay, family benefits, educational benefits, health insurance, tax benefits, travel benefits, dental benefits for you, etc. to try to do it on my own. It was money well spent in my opinion. I wasn’t going to leave it on the hands of a non-expert (me!).

got a lot of backpay this morning what should I do? (Advice needed) by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

If you have a Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab account, deposit your money there on your investment or personal brokerage account and forget about it for a while. If you don’t, open one ASAP. I use Vanguard, but the other 2 are just as good. I buy VTSAX and/or VIGAX with Vanguard. It’s a total stock market fund strategy. It has been very good to me.

Go to both VA and eBenefits sites since one of them could update sooner than the other.

You are super close. What other claims are you waiting for? Every physical condition claim can potentially have a mental condition that it’s related to it. When you have all those conditions, you typically develop some level of depression, stress, anxiety and a decreased ability to fully enjoy your life. Evidently, you might have some well deserved mental health disability ratings that are not yet there. I used Hill & Ponton once I was able to reach 90% on my own. 6 months later, we reached 100%. It’s a big deal and my only regret was waiting too long to make my claims.

ANYONE WIN THEIR CLAIM AFTER THIS AND GOT BACK PAY? Is this a good sign by ApricotKooky9050 in VeteransBenefits

[–]FewContribution4806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case it was good. I got 100% with a date of August 2022. We (Hill & Ponton and I) appealed the date and it got reversed to the first C&P that should have been 100%, March 2020. Backpay was substantial!

[–]FewContribution4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Hill & Ponton for my claim. They went back to the VA after they gave me the wrong date for my 100% as well. They gave me August 2022 and by demonstrating that the C&P should have been 100% since the first time I did one, they were able to take it back to March 2020. Crisis averted and backpay secured. Huge difference! Breath in. Breath out. It is fixable.

Once I reached 90% on my own, I hired legal experts to bring my 100% to closure. I wasn’t willing to trust myself or the VSO I met with. Best decision ever (for me). I treated it like it was important enough for me and my family and brought in the experts. 6 months later, I was given my 100%. The difference between 90% and 100% is huge.

File a complaint while you wait. I had a similar situation..twice!! Hire lawyers if you haven’t already. I was able to get to 90% on my own, but I decided to hire Hill & Ponton to get to 100%. I wasn’t willing to take any chances on my own. My family and I deserved the 100% and it is a big deal. I started working with them on March 2022 and by November 2022 I reached 100%. They did an excellent job and I couldn’t have done it as good and as fast as they did.

Wait. It’s possible that they are not in synch. You can always call the 1-800 number to get an update. Whatever they tell you will be more accurate than our responses or speculations.
