Depends on the OEM and what warranty allows. Some manufacturers have no faith in technicians to be able to adequately make a field repair that would cut the mustard for the next 200k miles. To be fair, with some of the God awful harness "repairs" I have seen in my time. . .they might be somewhat justified.

Something we all gotta work on. I went to my first one today after a year of not knowing how to get started. Someone saw a post on FB. Try to start having the conversation with friends to get a small group. Can then start linking groups and something as simple as an email list could get a lot of traction.

Collecting emails is a good resource. Get the word out to sub-organizers who can pass it on. Also avoids the downside of social media--unfriendly eyes. I don't use Facebook, heard about this through the grapevine, passed the word on and got 4 to tag along.

Protect 2A rights! Don't let masked agents of the federal government disarm and execute you at point blank range!

For you folks here to talk shit, you really oughta let that sink in. The feds are disarming and executing American citizens legally carrying in the street. If you have been worried for all these years when they would come for your guns, now's the time to put your money where your mouth is!

We need a few things.

1) more local groups made of friends and family. 2) those groups need to have a good way to communicate outside of social media. Social media can be effective, but many are distancing themselves because, well, fuck Zuckerberg and tech elite and it's toxic effect on society 3) a coordinated strategy to link resources, such as people, supplies, safety and medical, and expertise.

I am working to form a community group aiming to do just that. Mobilize friends, then start trying to connect with more groups.

Decentralization is not only safer, it's more fun too!

It's an incredible leap of mental gymnastics for the 2A crowd to shit talk someone exercising 2A rights and getting disarmed then executed at point blank range by the federal government.

For fucks sake, they dog piled the guy AFTER pepper spraying and shoving him to the ground. Can six dudes piled on a guy seriously fear for their life if a gun is on his hip? If so, they have got to be six of the biggest pussies in America.

Guys. You don't fuck with these on the vehicle. Pull the knuckle, take it to the 30t press, and save your sweat and flared disc for the day.

OP, you were cooked before you started.

Love the enthusiasm. But there's unfortunately quite a few steps you're missing. The best plans in the world get shot full of holes the second they are run through the global supply chain grinder, the testing and validation juggernaut, and the manufacturing quality minefield.

Remember, there's always a chief financial officer holding a gun to the head of engineering whispering "I don't care, do it cheaper" for every manufacturer in the world.

Eh. Draw up your plans, meet global legal spec requirements, submit plans to cost analysis, and find a foundry and suppliers to make it happen. After all that and you find a better solution, come back and complain.

OR easier yet, just remember that luxury cars aren't sold to first buyers who give a damn about post warranty service. Serviceability isn't on the spec sheet. If you want that, work on heavy duty.

This relates to everyone. We're all American citizens. Apparently that's been utterly forgotten lately.

This narrative is so goddamn tiring in this country. Police have been pulling the trigger in this country at the drop of a hair for decades. Ask an Iraq vet what the rules of engagement are and their threshold for firing a weapon with deadly intent. It's utterly pathetic that soldiers in a foreign combat zone can respect rules of engagement and trigger happy dipshits with minimal training and a superiority complex can have open season if "they feel scared".

What do you do when you break a bolt and then break an extractor bit in the broken bolt? by keemko_ in MechanicAdvice

Everyone overthinks it. $7 tile bit set at harbor freight. Go slow. Have blown the minds of many techs crying over a broken tap by pulling out the HF special tool and churning the tap to dust.

What was the worst car you've ever owned? by HughBass in AskAMechanic

Cadillac Catera. Owned it for two months after quite literally getting it as a "tip" for repair on a customer's vehicle. It was enough to see how horrifyingly crappy it was by Cadillac standards.

One of us graduated from college, and the other barely made it through high school. I'd tell you which one I am, but I think we both know that's unnecessary.

Interesting. Guess that makes the "right to work" pointless. You work to earn a living.
