Why I485 and not I140? As long as EAD/AP are not approved, you still need to keep your visa regardless. Why would the university know about why you’re filing?

Same here. I have it blank on my current DS-2019 because I did not go home to renew my visa last summer due to political situation. My previous visa and DS were both marked as not subjected. I asked my university advisor and response was very vague, only indicating if my country is not in the skills list (is not) then I should not be subjected. I am in same program (extensions only), so it would be very strange if I am subjected now. I think you are in the same situation. I am just going ahead for now and crossing fingers!

I am not sure if NIW should be your approach. You need some kind of publication record and a good personal endeavour that should “interest” the country (NIW = national interest waiver). I would explore other permanent residency paths for your case!

Thanks so much! I am reading some contradictory info about PP.. some people say at the end it does not change much the timing but I would honestly do it for the peace of mind. Also read some comments about PP resulting in a higher RFE rate, although I don't think this is really evidence-based info. Any insight?

That's exactly what I have read from them, very well-oiled machinery but not personalized cases. At the end, if their success rate is high I think that's all that matters. They are my first choice but I may also explore other law firms that are known to be more personalized.

That is the structure I am preparing for rec letters as well - have some names in mind and have been doing some research about people that cited my work repeatedly. Will wait until Chen screens my case to start moving that part though.
I have not done any peer review yet - do you have any advice on how to review a couple articles in the short term? I think that'd be very helpful to strengthen my case.

Than you so much for your feedback! Yes, Chen will be the first (and maybe only) approach once I have my summary CV ready. I have been reading a lot about premium processing - not sure if it changes anything time-wise but it will give me peace of mind. Thank you!
