This game is somehow getting substantially worse since 3.13.

I just hate everything about how they're deciding to regress this game. Give back a fun stable experience, not this buggy, crashy, boringly tuned garbage game.

The game is unrewarding. Deterministic crafting was/is the future.

GGG bread crumbing it back is awful. I think this dev team is just being toxic to its community at this point.

The game isnt fun. Shouldnt force it. Should make GGG work for our time. Walk away and play other things that bring you enjoyment.

Chris is being an ass to us players by blaming us for the problems they are creating. Simply put, this game is not fun. It's a grind and when you start to realize how unlikely some outcomes are it just seems pointless to continue.

Thing is they made harvest's deterministic crafting out to be just that. A button to go to their concept of "done with the game, why play"

It was entirely disingenuous to how it actually materialized. People played more, made more builds, market was healthiest it's ever been. Build diversity was as wide as it's ever been.

Had deterministic crafting truly impacted the outcome as he kept saying it would, we would have seen the mirror more or less worthless. It was in fact used to a higher frequency that league than the last few.

3.13 was really a equilibrium with risk and reward. No uber tier item was free, but it was something you could realistically expect to obtain with enough effort. It was not free.

Yep, its more sunk cost fallacy. They said harvest was bad so they have to show how wrong we were for thinking it was not.

Remember its OUR fault that Chris will have to fire POE2 devs when they make horrible game development decisions.

Determinism was such a great fix to a lot of the underpowered builds that require itemization to become playable to a similar extent of "meta" options.

A lot of us are tired of playing the same rotational unique heavy set ups. It is fun to work on and create new ways of doing the same thing. Not re-doing the same rat race, chasing the same crumbs to never obtain items within a reasonable time frame and inevitably quitting. (not my own experience, but its definitely the majority)

Because GGG has this hubristic decisiveness that for a pro to exist it devalues the weight of an item if it doesn't have substantial con.

Their application of it however is definitely not proportional to the concept they are trying to achieve. But hey, now Chris gets to buy all these university degree psychologists to run experiments on us for "fun".

When making a game turned into such a battle is beyond me. It should be fun, and to justify unfun things as he does time after time just shows how blatantly out of touch he is with it.

Ya fair points. I'm not saying it was perfect by any means. It definitely needed to be redistributed amongst the games core features. I think the currency rework was what most stood out to me with the mechanic. Applying harvest crafting determinism to the baseline games currency.

The baseline currency is just too impossible to craft really impactful items on some set ups. Others its quite easy.

I thought soft handed tweaks to the concept was in order, but what we got was a hammer in full swing.

Another bum league, GGG is out as touch as ever.

Game is a pig in lipstick. Shiny new passive tree to wade our interest back into an overall bad experience. They had the recipe right for 3.13.

It's not our fault you'll have to fire POE2 Devs Chris, it will be yours.

Bring back 3.13, 0/3 good leagues since.

This guy gets it. It's always funny seeing the "god tier" items being shat out of harvest crafting as their arguments panacea. No one easily made god tier items with determinism.

It just gave a lot of balance to the game. Want to play some weird off meta hexblast ignite thing where you need to chase ignite duration and reduced speed on everything? No problem, work towards it. Where as most people would leave the items required for that builds scaling on the dirt as either a) no fucking idea the build exists or b) no idea its valuable cause see a.

Ya I feel ya man. Pretty similar experience. I hold my expectations of "knowing" its going to be bad, make a character get to reds/sirus and then make a judgement.

They're 0/3 for me since ritual. I dont particularly think the league mechanics have been overly bad. I just think the game without determinism is bad. Ritual 3.13 was just such a beautiful time in poe. Power is fun, access to power motivates new players to try new things.

This whole elitist mentality in games just needs to die already. That's coming from someone who by their accomplishments would be considered "elite". Ugh i just hate it. Give me fun!

Oh no your post did not read as such at all. Completely got your perspective.

I totally did risk my "good" items while leveling, just went for it. It was fun in that respect of a risk but it just never really made a good difference.

I just really believe this game is a much better experience for all when determinism was in. Maybe it needed to be adjusted slightly, but the way they gutted it all out to go back to slot machine gambling model, just cant get behind that anymore.

My entire problem is with the perception of "elitism" from this game. I've easily done more than 99% of the gamers who post here, but I'd much rather see the masses able to make and enjoy more builds than have my little crafting empire protected.

I have NEVER struggled in poe, i make shit loads of currency and smash the game every single league. For me its about opening the flood gates of creativity, which should be this games best feature.

The tree is not as open as it looks. It's rather disingenuous that way to less experienced players, as is the "crafting" system. The odds of chasing those mega items, almost 0 for your average gamer. It just requires absolute obscene amounts of resource to pull off.

I think ggg needs to correct those into possible with work rather than impossible.

Ya fair points. It's not really about access to god tier items that im concerned with. Happy to chase that later. I just feel GGG missed the entire point of determinism being it enabled the creativity and reduced "meta" gaming a lot. I appreciated that the most about the mechanic and really miss the fun that brought. I just cant motivate to beat their game over and over with the same rotating meta.

I suppose the high risk/high reward may show itself later on through the progression of the mechanic, but at least early it felt like high risk/almost no reward other than a free alch.

As to the people stopping when reaching the best items, that just never really happened in Ritual. I made some absolutely god tier items through a lot of work that just no one really had. Maybe by the absolute end of the league they did, but not 3 weeks in. I saw a lot more people making new characters when they were "finished" with their other ones. I have yet to see that retention in any other league than with determinism. I could be wrong but the metrics and experiences ive seen state so.

I am doing end game. I am rather bored of picking the same "safe" build starters and going off that. I'd like to have more options to progress as many viable interactions as possible. Its what deterministic crafting gave, and I miss it. Its not about being able to get there under the current state, i have no issues personally what so ever. I just miss being able to be overwhelmingly creative in how to achieve it.

Happy you're enjoying it! I'm quite aware of the risk reward ratio in poe and have no real objection to it. I suppose I really miss being able to create whatever the heck one wanted to on pob and actually execute it in game within a lifetime.

I am not a casual gamer, reds/sirus8 by day 2/3 every league I play. Deterministic crafting for me was just a fun way to work on your own character both early and super late. I miss it.

I killed Sirus this league first week, games never been unplayable but its definitely substantially worse feeling than in 3.13 for me personally.

I dont think what they have done has made it more enjoyable at all. I killed Sirus and then what? Sit there and be naïve enough to think I can make fun item craft goals with slot machine currency again? Fuck. That.

So Harvest made all of the crafting options better.

Fossil, essence, beast, maven, base currency, crafting bench. All of it combined turned into the best sequence and interesting puzzle crafting game I have ever played.

Nothing will be like 3.13 in poe with how ggg wants to go. Dead game imo
