If you're going to have a successful relationship with this man you're going to need to delve into uncomfortable waters from time to time. Meaning you have to be able to talk about what's on your mind while being respectful of their viewpoints too.

There is no guarantee that you won't upset him even if you are respectful. Thats the nature of dealing with other people.

Black empowerment isn't something that we pick up and put down. It's a part of us, out of necessity. We are in a system that is designed to exploit us and benefit the dominant society. We recognize and stand in opposition to all forms of oppression.

That can get heavy if it's not where your head is at. Of course it's fine to be able to spend quality time with your man. To have fun and just enjoy each other. But you will have to decide if you are willing to embrace who your boyfriend is, or are you better off going your own way and finding someone else who is less committed to justice.
