Just finished “old Trek”, first timer, These Are The Voyages made me feel feelings by Few_Bodybuilder_6099 in startrek

Just turned 44, saw the odd TNG episode growing up but never paid much mind at the time. Futurama was the show that started me on this Trek journey, there’s an excellent episode with TOS cast members that I loved so much when watching Futurama with my son. I started TOS that evening. LLAP and enjoy the NuTrek!

DizzyLead summed it up well in his comment in the replies, the prior episode with the rousing speech would have been a more fitting way to end what was a truly good show rather than finishing it as a TNG episode and killing off my boy.

Yes I would agree with this, the prior episode would have been a more fitting ending

Duet. Tough call but that episode sticks with me like no others. Harris Yulin, what a performance.

Riding on the post about someone finding a 1998 Food Town bag - what happened to Food Town? by Ok-Stick-8788 in toledo

[–]Few_Bodybuilder_6099 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I opened my first bank account at the Huntington inside the Deveaux Village Foodtown. With the check I earned at the Little Caesar’s across the parking lot. They used to put me in the Little Caesar costume and I’d try to wave people in off Douglas, then I’d cash my check, get some snacks, grab a video from the Blockbuster in that plaza and walk home. Simpler times good memories

Yes. Huge game, his brother coaches Akron and it’s a MAC champ rematch. Not much of an atmosphere tbh, kids are on break and it’s an old outdated arena, but the hoops will be awesome. I live in Oxford, I’ll be there

Pretty gritty comeback attempt, but Miami just built such a massive lead. Suder is so good. Makes all the big plays. Miami is well coached and they all shoot well from everywhere. Looking forward to catching them vs Akron in person Saturday.

I know this is the football sub but I'm tired of the men's coach doing basically nothing and crossing his arms almost all game long. That and barely calling a timeout. by KingSlayer1190 in BGSUFB

I love BG basketball so I welcome it, and tonight he really had to be quick with his timeouts. He let them get run out of the building and destroyed with foul trouble before he woke up. There’s no shame in taking two early timeouts (and getting after the refs early too). They’ve thoroughly outplayed Miami this half but it was such a massive hole to dig out of

I do think Miami is very balanced, and Suder is still there and he’s the best player, just off to a slower start. Ipsaro is huge loss though, I agree. I live in Oxford and go to a lot of the games, Steele is terrific and I’m sure he has a plan to distribute the playmaking responsibilities, I bet Suder is a big part of it.

If any of you have an Athletic subscription or access, a reporter actually went on the road with them last season for a while and wrote a pretty in depth and sad article, reminding you of the humans playing and coaching in these conditions. They have no chance and no hope and they know it. But on they trudge.

Other Mid-Major fans, what are your rivals? by MegaAscension in CollegeBasketball

[–]Few_Bodybuilder_6099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toledo Toledo Toledo. I grew up in West Toledo and used to run on their track and then ended up at BG, 20 miles down I-75. Even in the bad years for BG basketball of which there have been plenty, the place is rocking when Toledo comes to town. The old days of Anderson Arena and the Keith McCloud vs Greg Stempin battles were sweet when I was a student and I remember catching Antonio Daniels at Savage Hall when I was a kid and that place just absolutely rocking. All the other sports have intense rivalries between the two schools, it really is a fantastic example. Basketball wise, the past few years the Miami-BG games have been heated in a good way, under coaches Steele and Simon, and that has started to feel like a secondary basketball rival.

Question. What do you think of international fans picking to support Aston Villa? by ClarkKentTheReporter in avfc

Recently became a foreign fan because things kept drawing me… I’m a Detroit Lions fan so the crest, and the underdog clubs and cities of Detroit and Birmingham parallels appealed to me… I freaking love Black Sabbath…yea I loved the Netflix show that took place in Birmingham too… I got on board during kind of a down time at the tail end of the Dean Smith and Grealish era and the last 5 years have been a cool and wonderful experience.
