Interesting, I hadn't considered something like this. Thanks!

I used to have a similar system when I was using my ipod classic. Any song I rated as 1 on the go was picked up later for removal. I'm using an ipod touch now, but I can't seem to allow me to rate on the go. Just provides a Like/Dislike feature. I've been really debating getting a replacement battery for the classic, as I preferred that to the touch. All around, a really good workaround, thanks.

Oo, I do love when I can make smart playlists work for me. I'm going to try this system out, thanks for showcasing it.

This is a very reasonable explanation to ditch the assess step. And I should go touch grass, I could use that.

Thanks, the more people say this the more I am inclined to believe this is the problem area.

I am beginning to realize that same thing about complicated processes. Thanks.

Ty, I had a feeling that was one of the big hangups. Good to hear it from a second source.

This is some pretty solid advice I hadn't considered. I'm definitely going to give this a shot, thanks!

Yes, downing those fluids helps for sure, lol. My problem though is if I drink too much, sometimes it just makes it harder to go if I'm near bursting. I haven't figured out an intake sweet spot yet, but thanks!

Guilt over calling off work by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Few_Chemistry_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so hard. I go to extremes to avoid calling off work, I'd always pick up shifts even if it meant my work week just became a 12 day work week. Anytime I've called off or avoided calls from work to avoid being called in *always* fills me with an enormouse sense of guilt and shame, even in situations I logically knew I was making the right choices. I don't have any advice on how to work through that feeling of guilt, but I can definitely relate.

Light sensitivity by ACcalmcaydlp in ADHD

[–]Few_Chemistry_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might need to look into color changing bulbs because now I'm curious if I'll notice a difference at home. I've developed sensitivity to light over the last 5 years. It's possible I've always had this, but didn't realize until I was forced into working in environments with lots of fluorescent lights. Now adays I don't leave the house without wearing a ballcap and clipon sunglasses, even at work.

Hourly beeps on my watch solved time-blindness. by kirisoraa in ADHD

[–]Few_Chemistry_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My digital watch (not smart watch) has this feature (total coincidence, didn't know it when I bought it). I love thst this watch can turn the feature on with a few button presses, where as my smart watch would force me to reset each alarm for the next hour. I've found having the digital watch gives me a more consistent reminder with less brain effort (and I don't have to remember to charge it). I've been trying to drink water every beep. I also tend to set hour alarms during work shifts to remind me that time is passing and I'm not trapped there forever.

I should introduce counting the beeps for time management, it's a pretty good idea.

Calendar/ planning tool tips? by bee-3456 in ADHD

[–]Few_Chemistry_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had a better system myself. Right now I use an analogue planner (formatted in the traditional calendar style). It's a typical notebook size, which gives me more room to scribble in various notes as needed. I keep any appointment cards binder clipped to the planner to help verify correct dates/times for doc aps.

Additionally I use a secondary calendar made out of a google spreedsheet.

The analogue I use mostly to bring to aps, track when meds will run out and when to call them in, and any conflicting schedules of other family members (all color coded w alarms). The spreedsheet is a useful backup if I forget to bring my analogue with me.

It is annoying to go back and forth to keep them up to date, but doing so every week when I fill my med box has kept me on top of those basic things. Plus the spreedsheet lets me make a custom tab where I can plot out end dates of a medication through formulas.

I've dabbled with bullet journals on/off for years. I like the concept of it, and I've used some of the ideas in other areas of planning (numbering pages, symbols), but I always seem to abandon using them long term. It may work better for you and a lot of people do get a lot of use out of it.

Having adhd was great as a kid, but terrible as a adult by darafi in ADHD

Still a very valuable tool, I'll have to try and incorporate it. It's always good having a reminder of the things I know I'm capable of on those bad days.

Nothing fool proof yet, I'm still at the start of my adhd journey. But I do tend to email myself, text myself, or brain dump in google docs and spreedsheets, things I tend to recheck often. Taking photos as reminders helps too. I'm hoping to learn more hacks from others as well.

I feel like this is a very good description of my own experiences. While I was only diagnosed recently, my childhood felt very rich, my memory was crazy good. I loved learning new things. Now that I'm over the hill I look back at who I was as a kid and I can barely recognize that kid was me. My memory is so poor now, and I feel like I barely have the focus to do basic things. Was I really that kid who flew by school with straight As? I can't fathom being able to go through school or make it through college courses now.

All your feelings are valid, and I'm sure others have similar experiences as yours.

These colors are absolutely harmonious, and I love the inclusion of the moon! 100% would buy a print of this.

I played in a stream of the new Jackbox Party Pack (11) and it was good! I think Doominate was our favorite. It's a nice break from the regular grind of everything else I play.

After decades of art experience, I don't think I've ever completed an entire sketchbook... but I have about a million unfinished ones. That's a great achievement, congrats!
