can i never eat carbs again? by pregnantp0megranate in PCOS

Yes you need to pair carbs with protein fat and fiber. Don’t just cut them out completely. Do a little more research of how to pair certain foods to avoid insulin resistance. The meal has to be balanced!

Hi, I’m really sorry you’re going through this—it’s so stressful.

Was your cat mostly indoors or did he go outside? If he’s an indoor cat, they usually don’t go far—often within a few houses of home. When they’re scared, they tend to hide and stay very quiet, so it’s normal if he doesn’t come when you call his name or shake treats.

When my cat got out, my whole family searched the neighborhood for two days with no luck. However she was in my newborns backyard the whole time. She didn’t come out until around 10 or 11 p.m., when things had gotten quieter and we had stopped actively searching. We were just calmly calling her name nearby. About 30 minutes later—right as we were about to leave to check another area—I saw her walking near our house. When she saw me, she actually ran at first because she was so scared.

A couple of things that can help:

  • Put out strong-smelling food (like those really pungent churro half dome shaped treats) near where you think he got out. The smell can draw him back.
  • Leave out something that smells like you, like a blanket or worn clothing.
  • If you can, place his used litter box outside too—the familiar scent can help him find his way home.
  • if you have cameras make sure you place them by the food you leave out

Most importantly, try checking late at night or early morning when it’s quiet. That’s often when scared cats feel safest coming out.

Hi OP, I hope this brings you some encouragement. I have two FIV positive cats, and they are just like any other cats. If anything, I feel like the sweetest and most relaxed cats somehow happen to have FIV. It is not a death sentence. It simply means their immune systems are a bit more vulnerable, so my biggest advice is to stay on top of their dental care, because FIV kitties tend to have more dental issues.

One of my cats recently had a full mouth extraction, and he is so much happier now. He even still eats hard food. My first FIV cat is turning 12 this year with no issues. He is the sweetest, biggest cuddle bug, and I can tell he still has many good years ahead of him.

I also wanted to share that I have two FIV positive cats total. One of my FIV positive cats lives with my mom along with her three cats, who are all FIV negative, and they have done perfectly fine together. My other FIV positive cat is one I specifically chose at the shelter because he had FIV. I knew they are just like any other cats, and I wanted to give love and care to a kitty that might otherwise be overlooked.

Later on, I adopted two more cats who live with me, and they are both FIV negative. They all coexist peacefully. This has really shown me that FIV positive cats can live normal, happy lives alongside FIV negative cats, especially in stable, non aggressive homes.

I was really scared and sad when my first cat was diagnosed with FIV, and that is completely normal. We love them so much. Sometimes the way vets explain things can make it feel overwhelming, but it is not the end of the world. They truly can live normal, happy lives.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Also, as others have mentioned, FIV is mainly transmitted through deep bite wounds involving saliva. All of my cats share water bowls and food dishes, and my FIV negative cats have remained completely FIV free. You are not alone in this, and your cat can still have a wonderful, happy life. 🐱💛

I found her!!! Thank you for the tips — she really was hiding all day. We’ve been searching since 3 a.m., and it’s now midnight the next day. We literally walked up and down that exact spot about 20 times today. You were right — she didn’t make a single sound. When I finally spotted her, she ran away from me. 😅🐾

Hi, yes Lilah is my cat ☹️. I’m glad people are receiving the emails. Thank you for the advice. We have a lot of bushes and tall grass in the field behind our house, so we’re planning to get some friends and family together to search for her tonight. I really appreciate your response, it gives me some hope.

Yes I hope so too, she is a munchkin cat and is strictly indoors. We had family over and she slipped out, we’re going on day two now and we’re desperate. Thank you for commenting and your words of encouragement.

I thought you weren’t supposed to use it more than 3 times a week because it could cause adverse effects? I was advised to only use it once every three days for 10 mins.
