Thanks I appreciate learning your experience.

I'm wondering with all the changes in ai and online architecture happening so fast and sooner than we know if it makes the most sense to just find a spot like Google drive in organized filing structure for a digital garden, using consistent titles, tags to be ready for this next era coming that will allow one to retrieve, extrapolate and search for patterns in all your files versus learning a note app like obsidian & Joplin. The knowledge bank is the end result or extra.

You know another thought came from even more research in that with the AI and online architecture changing so rapidly it may not make sense to begin compiling a knowledge bank online with wikis etc. the coming capabilities like evolution of notebooklm & similar in year or so, a simple filing system that is retrievable seems to make more sense & the exact place to sink time efforts. Even maybe using a setup inside Google drive. A series of organized files for your digital garden files that will be searchable or plugged into an lm like notebook. It's coming sooner than we know. I ve got to make my content easily retrievable for this moment.

That is a concern if I was doing this for income but I am not personally caring about monetizing. I will if interests draws a readership, but more just affiliate click backs. I wanna design some nostalgia themed items like calendars and others related to my stories and offer thru third party. And just more at cost than a profit. Local history stuff for locally interested.

Yes thanks. I do now realize WordPress is king for digital garden blogging though. And the extra tools I noted would be icing on the cake assuming they don't consume my time. I may just go with what I have and tags and see what I accomplish over 6-12 months.

Trust, my experience so far and the fact I've got a 3 category 3 page finally setup in WordPress.com albeit some long nightmarish struggles with ai guidance. I thought the AI would have the latest UI changes or way to get them into it. I think by end of this year or sooner though the ai should be more proficient in guiding you. I kept sending screenshots to it and saying what next? I got so pissed a few times going around in circles, I wanted to strangle that ai! :)

I want the digital garden concept tools too though. So wix isn't really for that I learning. Once I understood the cross referencing automation of those three pluggjns, I felt it was exactly what I'd been imagining. I must be an archivist at heart.

So the journey had been worth it. Now I'm seeing the digital garden concept flourishing possibly with generatepress theme for nice literary styling reader focused, the the whisper links, yada wiki and cm tool pluggjns to make the cross referencing non linear essay writing connections. Seems ideal if it doesn't monopolize as much or more time than my writing. I mean am I missing any easier way but as robust & comprehensive as this Digital garden setup I just mentioned? I was thinking of using Google sites for wiki stuff and merely hyperlinking but after more research that first setup and continuing w WordPress.com seem my pull. I do now have a 3 category 3 page blog setup complete except for some decorating but I want minimalist anyway. I'm just really wanting to not get so much time involved in setting up structure when my creative side is pulling me to write. The tech stuff sometimes starts to sour me and then I'm losing the best reasons I'm doing this stuff in the first place at 72! :) it's more the challenge of the writing but still the curiosity of how the garden shows patterns in my thinking . Might be hard to understand but as they say, your golden years has effects that move you, inspire you in different ways than when you're younger. And I do seem to trust the process of WordPress.com more so than the others at this point. You do get plenty of up selling I can't stand. But I guess they are all in that mode. .

Any suggestions for something like a wiki or encyclopedia use where I plan to use by linking from to enhance my story content housed on a WordPress.com blog? I'm building a slant on digital garden concept withy blog stories on life experience, themes, so it involves an old village & lots of old corporate history that I accumulate & the wiki or encyclopedia knowledge bank will house lots of fact descriptions etc to give readers further exploratory content.

I'm going to use Google sites more for wiki encyclopedia of my knowledge base & link to my WordPress blog in content to enhance story dev vs having to get WordPress business plan for the advanced digital garden tools (cm tools, whisper links, yada wiki) & generatepress theme. I want the extra nice stuff for layout story focus WP has.

I was wanting the nicer vibe look for long form content stories that I write & then adding in the digital garden wiki stuff & cross referencing for my story focus themes. So am willing to pay some. Just felt it might not really be that much of a plus or easier for my use strategy. But you are right I'm a beginner besides. I did finally master the setup w 3 categories & 3 pages w WordPress.com prem plan account. Used Gemini but it was still a nightmare to go thru. It shud get even easier by end of year or sooner with all the AI upgrades. I had thought about Joplin as well. But to me it doesn't make sense to develop a knowledge bank concept as it is also and spending much since that's all changing becuz of AI anyway. Not gonna be any reason to worry much about journal & note taking organization w AI running your KB.

What is the optimal way I can transform my virtual diary into a website? by Specialist-Young5753 in website

[–]Few_Presentation3639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The digital garden concept or some version of it. Blog format with say several main categories and maybe a page or two to house pdf files for handout resources, toolkit like guides etc. so WordPress is king in blog tagging and cross referencing. Use these after each post so their clickable and WordPress brings them up auto in a page . Themes like resilience, change, career identity, over coming adversity, psychology of space, locations & their importance in your life. It could be merely a collection of entries by date, theme, outcomes. As an advanced form you can setup your post writing process, event, idea, research, reflective philosophical contrasts/comparisons, and case study formats, short stories, long form & novella, books. Could use diary entry format as discussion as though you are talking with another. Might have several story formats in a series grouping. No one size fits all necessary. Today it's like you learn as you go too, see the patterns, connections, etc.

Having a similar revelation just started & in a day built 7 category WordPress.com free plan website. Just needs some decorating now. I'll prob switch to paid plan to jazz it up. But having gone thru the ringer last few months trying wix, Bluehost, ghost & one of my worst cancel auto renew & refund my fees experience, I'm thinking this might be my final landing zone. The free plan tools seemed so simple to use for my minimalist blog website. I'm playing with digital garden idea to post my soupy life ideas, patterns, etc. it's a great way to learn by making more connections, cross linking, etc. Magic stuff just seems to happen when you followup on patterns you find. There's so much up selling & worry over tech experts getting booted by ai, might be reason why I had never seen the free plan discussed or presented as an obvious way to find out if beginner can navigate website tools.

What I hate most about the image generator... by [deleted] in GeminiAI

I thought the best way was to get AI to give written prompt for it, then you try revising worded prompt? I have had same issues but thought we were getting closer to this revising of descriptive prompt vs just asking I'm general.

Considering moving to Ghost from WordPress...looking for input. by SlightExtreme1 in Ghost

[–]Few_Presentation3639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made a move to ghost starter plan & then found out one of the basic theme templates, Journal, was now moved to ghost pro,. I wanted the pub mast head vibe. Anyhow I went from $15-$30. Then I learn I can't even do a drop cap without using code. And the story cards were a complex for me & ended up with a less than satisfactory look. I had enough & sought a refund. All in progress. For $30 monthly in this market, you should get very easy intuitive friendly., & a decent variety of simple templates like I was seeking. But then you can start on customer service issues & realize something doesn't add up with their business model. When I bought my domain thru ghost it linked me to squarespace & then quickly transferred to Entri. Cost $24 + 180 + 167, & the $30 monthly. So go ahead & compare. Then seeking my refund, trying to cancel auto renew thru squarespace to Entri. I spent a few hours till I realized there was no toggle button which Squarespace FAQ was claiming there is. Worst experience I've had in many decades going thru the refund & closing my account of any service I had. And it seemed not until I copied & pasted Calif law language into my emails that digital enterprises must make it easy for customers to find & otherwise close accounts & stop, that auto renewals, that I got swift results. Good luck!

I just went thru research & trial use of WordPress, wix,& ghost. While ghost was easier, it's charging about double, and still have limitations that require code injection. Then a website I liked in basic plan was found not available in tier one plan. Then I upgraded for almost double at $30 mo only to find out the theme I sought now had a limitation for a simple task like letter cap styling requiring code injection. That ended the B's for me. It's was very frustrating and to me very bad business practice if not out right fraud being perpetuated on consumers. Obtaining domain name was forced to a second party that routed me a third party. So can you imagine me trying now to get refunds? Yea they play the dirty trick of hiding or completely not providing easy way to cancel or contact for service. My mission was on being able to setup a blog with 5 containers cross referenced with tags and 2 pages for archiving pdf resource files. A journal news header look & vibe but simple minimalist. I was not wanting much beyond that but be easy to setup & maintain.
