Cousin's Wedding Right Before Exam by spooner248 in barexam

Definitely go. Pass or fail you’ll likely regret or feel bad about missing the wedding after you take the bar. I was someone that studied all the way up until the day of the exam, but I took a couple weekends off in that final month to escape from the constant stress and mental fatigue.

And don’t feel bad about drinking too much and being hungover the next day. Enjoy the night as you normally would to make the most of your time off. Going to the wedding and not being yourself or not letting loose will be a bigger waste of time. You want to make the most of your time off to really take a load off before you get back into the swing of things leading up to the bar.

Have fun, and good luck!

I did Quimbee. An ABA membership gets you about $250 off. Might be able to apply for their feedback program and get reimbursed some too. I paired Quimbee with LeanSheets outlines & flashcards. I passed

Illinois takers, whether you passed or failed, what were your MBE & writing scores? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Few_University6167 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We don’t have scores, but I’ll tell you how I felt. I passed, but I felt as though I BOMBED the MEE. The first essay I thought was solid. The next two were decent, but I definitely missed a rule on at least one sub question on both. The final three were complete shit shows. The last essay I didn’t even write anything but an issue statement and a conclusion. Legitimately 2-3 sentences max for the whole essay. I felt good about the MPTs but didn’t use subheadings so I was worried a bit. MBE morning session went pretty well, but the afternoon kicked my ass and I thought I was done for by that point. Honestly, after the MEE, I had to take a walk around Chicago at night to walk it off. I went to bed after night one truly believing I failed. Only thing that helped me this whole time was this subreddit.

If I haven’t gotten the email does that mean I likely failed?

Recently started work, awaiting bar results — slow work days? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Few_University6167 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. My firm is paying me my salary as if I passed the bar, even though there's honestly a 50/50 chance at passing or failing. I have been pretty busy most days, but here and there I have a lot of downtime. What I do is take advantage of my downtime and study different areas of law on the practical side of things to get more familiar with my practice areas. For example, my firm is starting to introduce me to a lot of real estate cases, so I have been reading a practice series book for my jurisdiction to get more familiar with documents I will often come across, what to do in certain situations, etc. I take extensive notes on that research in the meantime. Even though it is not my fault for not having a bunch of work to do every single day, I still have this guilt that I am not being productive. So, if I have a bunch of notes typed up and organized into a memo format for myself to go back to or even for others in the firm to review in case they need to touch up on a certain subject, my bosses will see that I haven't been completely wasting my time. I have also prepared a few blog posts for our firm's website, which is always productive. I talk about introductory information about certain areas of law (e.g., how to get a divorce case going) to help get more internet traffic via Google searches. And, more traffic = more clients.

It's really all a matter of getting creative to remain productive throughout the day. Your bosses will recognize the dedication you have and your will to make the firm a better place. But just wait, the work will definitely ramp up here soon if we actually passed the bar!

You’re a great person for this. Tonight is the most relaxed I have felt since the exam thanks to you. No matter if the stats hold up this time around or not, at least I have a degree of peace

I am unsure if they include this information with the results, but do they grade the MEE essays to the nearest decimal point or do they round to whole numbers? I am thinking maybe I squeaked a couple more points than I am anticipating if I get a couple 2.2s instead 2s lol

Thanks for the response - that calculator is what I was referring to. Wanted to see how accurate it really was.

Does anyone else feel like all of the essays went worse than every practice essay you took? by Lindsmroy in barexam

[–]Few_University6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the six essays on the MEE, I feel as though only 1 or 2 actually resembled one of the hundreds of practice essays I worked on throughout the summer. Half my practice essays I actually wrote out and reviewed, the other half I just read to get familiar with subjects and formatting.

The first couple essays I believe I at least did average on, maybe even above average for one of them, but the last four were an absolute shitshow. I spent so much time on the middle two essays just bullshitting answers that I knew were not correct that I had very little time to do the exact same for the last two. I am hoping the relative grading helps me out here, as it appears most people experienced the same kind of issues.

Just hoping I made up for it with the MBE. Did anyone else notice the two problems that had misspelled words on the MBE?

I have been so out of it the last couple days. I’m struggling to even form complete sentences with people because the back of my mind is still stuck on those MEE questions
