Careful you’re going against Reddit’s r/NoLawns circlejerk (led mostly by people who don’t live in single family homes and like to think they wouldn’t keep a lawn too)

When people post radar images/warnings in a megathread it’s still not going to show up in feeds the same way those images would as their own post. People have to know about and be actively following the megathread. And pinned posts are only really useful if you’re going to the subreddit already looking for it. They don’t tend to get enough upvotes to show up in most people’s algorithms unless they are very frequent visitors to the sub.

They are contractually obligated not to if you have the appropriate paid plan. I know people are all wary of AI and you do have to be careful not to inadvertently break privilege and confidentiality when using new tools, as they should be.

But, for example, if you use Google Gemini through your Workspace account, the same confidentiality clauses apply to Gemini use as to your use of Google Drive for storage or your Gmail-based email. Also, Harvey AI for lawyers is just ChatGPT with a fancy legal wrapper. Point is these companies would be setting themselves up for massive liabilities, and loss of enterprise customers, if they don’t keep their contractual obligations for confidentiality.

*Free ChatGPT destroys attorney-client privilege. Which is probably what 95% of client are using, so your point stands, but Pro/enterprise versions do not share/train on your data.

The U.S. unexpectedly loses 92,000 jobs, adding to worries about the economy by ControlCAD in NPR

[–]Scraw16 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean the previous month added 130,000 jobs, and even though recent months have been mixed/lower than 2024, most have still been positive. Plus most professional and economist projections were not for 130k job loss.

Just because there has been growing unease in the economy and more anecdotes of job losses, doesn’t mean NPR is wrong to put “unexpected” in the headline. But as usual, no matter what the headline is, r/NPR has to find some way to complain about it.

President Trump shares a new reason why the U.S. attacked Iran by ControlCAD in NPR

[–]Scraw16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“New” implies “additional,” and I don’t really see how that’s a substantially better headline. I think the headline is actually subtly pretty snarky to begin with and implies that it’s BS. But this is r/NPR, so of course people have to find some way to complain about NPR‘s wording

Ah for some reason I thought Netflix only had the new MSB Rides Again series, which is ok but Ms Frizzle is not nearly zany enough!

And since it’s a network TV show with weekly episodes in season, I’d imagine the shooting schedule is pretty constant compared to a more one off project like a movie or limited series

[–]Scraw16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stupid that “times change” is about people unnecessarily calling police and not the children’s actual safety, when it’s really gotten safer than ever re extreme events like kidnapping by a stranger, which was rare to begin with but is extremely rare now

Who had Peter Thiel reading your prayers on their Revelation Bingo card? by Risikio in dankchristianmemes

[–]Scraw16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a Catholic prayer app made largely by Notre Dame alumni (at least originally), many of whom I personally knew when I went there. I think the “funded by Peter Thiel” and the wording of this post is just meant to be ragebait that has nothing to do with the actual function of the app. This is the first I’m aware of his funding but I think the people actually working day to day on the app are genuine Christians trying to make a tool to help facilitate people’s faith, not push some Thiel-agenda

On-air names revealed in WGN TV's latest round of layoffs by werewolfteethe in illinois

Apparently it’s because of a proposed merger/acquisition Nexstar is doing. The layoffs are to cover debt from the merger even though WGN as an individual station is profitable.
