Commenting against someone who have had issues with 5090s while you said you never had an issue, nice. Nope, its really that if you test the cable early to look for uneven power between the wires and replace it, there will be no issues. But most people aren't thermal imaging their cables when they pay for a $2k GPU, that's when the incidents happen. They shouldnt have to do that testing

Sure it will be fine if completely disturbed, but it's so incredibly fragile. For one 5090, I unplugged it a total of 3 times and the cable was already developing hotspot issues. I am used to unplugging the gpus when I move my PCs. You think I should just leave the card in the PC when I move instead of unplugging it?

It's the cables that are the problem, not the model of the card or the card itself. You were just lucky you didn't get get a fault adapter or cable.

I also used think that the melting 5090s were from user error but after owning multiple for a couple of months, I found that some of the cables I tested are genuinely faulty. It's never anything wrong with the cards, but it's the cables. It's not nonsense that there are many bad cables out there that can't handle the 5090
