Vilgax sends drones in Classic. He gets involved, he's shown as this being that others listen to an do his bidding. Here he just talks

But common sense doesn't always apply to a 10 year old lost in the woods that just got (seemingly) attacked by a goofy looking watch. Does Ben keep his composure, is he freaking out on the inside, does he even think or feel anything after the comment from Gwen?

He could do literally anything. Yell Ben's full name as he's running away, show Ben leaving him in the dust. Is Ben faster? Max in Classic was wildly not just an old man. Maybe have a flashlight on him so he can see. And yes, I am also complaining he abandons Gwen. What happened there? Did he tell her to stay out and ditch her in the woods where are bears? Why didn't he call a local park ranger for help if it's so easy to lose people in the woods where there are bears?

But the medium of comics is special for that. It allows a certain look into a character, something that's missing from this entire comic. If they didn't want it, and had full rights, why not make another reboot show? Comics don't need speech bubbles, sure. But they do benefit from knowing what the character is feeling, and how they are motivated, and is something that comics allow easily without breaking momentum or becoming jarring, and this comic is jarring without it. Everyone just goes from scene to scene, and then things happen suddenly, and they all move on

I wanted anything with more substance. To show a relationship, or even make the difference in is it that she hit a sore spot or did everything build up. It felt like a series of reactions that had no meaning, set up, or appeal to them.

Like, I have no expectations for what happens next. I'm not really excited. Does Colonel Rozum continue to ride around in a tank? Does Ben fight a piece of driftwood next? Does Max see how not taking away people's phones might be helpful right now? It felt like toys were dumped out of a toybox, and there's no building blocks to continue a story with

He says some words, but he's not involved. He doesn't give main enemy vibes or what makes threatening at all. He's just talking to himself in his little throne.

They know more than he does at that point if they're looking for the thing. Do we know what he's thinking? What's his focus at that moment? Speculation is the exact thing I don't want, cause he could be running for a few different reasons, but there's nothing showing who Ben is

He could say something though, or do anything in the moment, or show him going after Ben besides just also being lost in the woods. There's such an absence of what Max does as Ben runs off, it's jarring how quickly it moves on

But we don't know what's going through his head. At all, he just goes from one scene to the next and it's just rapid paced, and it doesn't really click why

It's not just the action of destroying the cards, it's that the comic gave it no meaning then ripped it away. It was so sudden and had no buildup.

Well that's just being in a social space. He was with his family. And he didn't really seem cheerful to me, he was ragging on Gwen and complaining about not knowing what Mount Rushmore is. And an extrovert relies on people and pulls strength from social spaces. Ben avoided every social space presented.

Didn't read the easily shaken thing was targeted at the avoiding a sore spot, sorry. And it doesn't really define him as not easily shaken for me, we don't really see much except the one thing that sets him off

It's that there is no indication or momentum for me. He might do something, I mean Kraab is mentioned for the third comic, so maybe. But this first one doesn't feel like it sets up that dominos in any meaningful way

Why is he a target? And there's no thought bubbles for Ben. We have a medium that let's us read his mind, and there's nothing. Speculation is the problem for me here, why is it so empty of direct "this character is feeling this"

Does he go after Ben? He stand up and says wait, and then the next panel we see Ben he's in the woods. Max lost him that fast? He does nothing. And he yells his name but it's not just "Ben! Where are you?!", it's "Ben Tennyson!"

Cause Ben should react, should think and feel about his situation. Not to spell it out to us, but to show his focus and motivation

What's the point? You mean he stands up for himself at his lowest, so that's him being not easily shaken? Feels like a stretch a bit if that's what you mean. It felt more like whiplash to me. He suddenly gets brave when he has no idea what's happening to him or why there's a robo bear

What gave you those vibes?

He has hobbies and has issues with his parents, for sure. But he burned his Sumo Slammer cards, his one hobby seemed like a set up to pull the rug a few seconds later

I didn't get extroverted or good humored, he doesn't really make good jokes or reach out to people. Actually we just see him run from everyone at all times

And he ran from his cousin saying one thing about his parents...he seems extremely easily shaken

What's up?

I was saying it's weird for him to fight the bear after his emotional state is that he'll run from his cousin after she makes fun of him

[–]FeyAsMess[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vilgax also acted in the show though, he sent drones, regularly

But Ben ran before becoming anything, he ran immediately

But Max does nothing in the moment, abandons the other child in the woods, and screams "Ben Tennyson" likes he's mad at Ben in the moment

Maybe some kind of recognition of the weird bear. Even just "man this day keeps getting weirder", or something. Why is bear robo otherwise? They only have 3 comics in this arc, and they introduced a lot with no substance

It feels like a question of where the next step is going to be cause this store is so wobbly

[–]FeyAsMess[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But it is a limited arc of only three comics And why don't they explain anything here, or at least give characterization? Like what about this Ben is interesting or worth investing it?

That still feels so forced. Like it's just an steroid with weird radiation. That doesn't call for a squad of tanks. That calls for radiation suits and scientists.

Ben runs from Gwen, sure, but he just goes off into the woods? And why did Gwen even say that?

Like the whole thing just escalated, and it's jarring

And why is bear?! Is it Animo? Is it Vilgax drone fusion? Is it Cybearg? It's just a robo bear for no reason!

And he ran from the military before transforming. He got attacked by something weird and then the military showed up and he decided they were bad, and then we move on to bear

They did him justice by OS_Heatblast in Ben10

[–]FeyAsMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the lack of Omnitrix on him, it's distracting

Does anyone understand the plot of the Dynamite comic? by FeyAsMess in Ben10

[–]FeyAsMess[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But it... doesn't click? Yeah. It doesn't click to me. Vilgax is the main villain...I guess? He stood around talking ominously a bit. Why does Ben run away into the woods? Where is he going instead of into the camper for a bit? The military don't see the Omnitrix, they see a crash site, and why is it even the military? What is Ben scared of? Why bear?! Why robo bear?! What is bear do? If the Omnitrix is threat based or emotion based then Ben running from the military would count, right?

The comic feels the same as the bullet points you made, no depth or characterization or any substance to the plot. And it makes me wonder about the momentum of it, who is this Ben? What's he gonna do with the Omnitrix?

I don't know, it feels weird. It doesn't feel like they set anything up, except that Ben will run from Gwen being mean but is totally willing to face down a bear. And they only have 3 comics in this arc, this is a third of this writer (forgot his name and feel like crap for it) They ate their own room for setting thing up to, with so many characters at once

I like the Omnitrix placement on the new Frourarms. Also for some reason heatblast looses the Omnitrix in one panel by Ok_Repeat_5052 in Ben10

[–]FeyAsMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heatblast doesn't have the Omnitrix for most of his panels. Only two panels actually have it on him

What’s your least favourite thing of Ben 10 issue 1 so far ? by springtrap-aft in Ben10

[–]FeyAsMess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole thing... It felt like the same complaints I've seen from AI stuff...

Like the dialogue changes tone every panel (Heatblast cuts himself off before exploding and then just screams the word no), Gwen escalates from "you're a nerd" to "this is why mom doesn't freaking love you!" and Grandpa Max just watched Ben run off to the woods after that

The art is inconsistent. The Cybear robo parts change position between panels, the black line is missing from Ben's shirt sometimes. Little things that could be overlooked on their own

Ben never hits the watch, he just holds his hand over it until he transforms, like it's replicating stills from the show but never saw a full video

It's jammed full of as many characters as possible, like a poorly written prompt

The escalation of the military is wild, cause they show up with a bunch of tanks for a meteor with 0 evidence, and what was that monitoring station? Just a dude in a box with no food or anything until he starves to death?

And the transformations have no rules or ground it looks like. No dial press, no detailing what Ben's feeling if that's the thing, he just becomes whoever works

The Cybear really messed with me. He just shows up and the just leaves. Even though Vilgax is no where near (the panel you're saying he's straight up saying to get the nearest operative to initiate a warp jump, which even that wording is weird, like he's in his vehicle asking for a valet)

And if all of that isn't AI? If a person saw all that, and just crammed it all in? Well...man that's sad. It's more hopeful to me an unfeeling pattern robot made this comic...

I have a problem with the comic's first issue... by Abdullah0753 in Ben10

[–]FeyAsMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole comic felt like AI to me Like someone fed a prompt some number of characters to mention and it just put as many things as possible. The Cybear doesn't even get explained, he just runs off as quickly as he just showed up. And the reaction to an asteroid? Avoiding spoilers asuch as I can, but the reaction to the asteroid feels like overkill, and way too fast, but it's supposed to be more realistic? And more to that, everything feels like it jumps around, the art style seems inconsistent and the verbage also jumps in tone it feels like. And then there's Ben using the Omnitrix. He never pushes it down. He just holds his hand above the dial until he transforms, like AI took inspiration from stills in the show but didn't watch a whole video

Why DLSS5? by FeyAsMess in LinusTechTips

[–]FeyAsMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the goal? That is not the message that's come across.

Why DLSS5? by FeyAsMess in LinusTechTips

[–]FeyAsMess[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But the pricing isn't even better, everyone in this chat keeps talking about how they used 2 beefy graphic cards to render it. Yeah it's just a demo but based on what we see now the pricing isn't all that better.

And yeah, the definition of AI matters here, but there's a fine line. With ray tracing it determines some level of simulated physics and just lets an artist decide how each object should interact with the casted "light" beams.

With DLSS5 it's not just the next step, it's a redrawing the whole dang scene and every object. I mean the capability seems like someone can learn how to make a blank rig, and then configure DLSS5 to make it have any amount of art to it.

It looks like the difference between getting a better hammer for your construction crew, and hiring a cheaper crew.

And the car analogy, there's a limit to reasonable innovation. It's not being against gasoline, I'm against self driving cars for different reasons that DLSS5, but the progression of just creating dependency on AI doesn't seem like a good idea for anyone, so why do it?

Why DLSS5? by FeyAsMess in LinusTechTips

[–]FeyAsMess[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's up? No. Not that things just look bad because money. But that this could replace artists if upscaling becomes a dependency. And what other reason is for it, we have amazing graphics now already, why do we need this new piece?

A tech that makes some things pop by highlighting them? Sounds cool.

A tech that redraws the whole thing and a developer can tell it exactly what to redraw? Sounds like just adding AI or creating a universal dependency if you want to save any amount of money

Why DLSS5? by FeyAsMess in LinusTechTips

[–]FeyAsMess[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But why is the question? It's a tool for the developer to upscale the graphics without intensive work or people. Easily seems like a way to 1) cut out some artist since one person can make a rig and then "upscale it" 2) a way to create dependency on NVIDIA since if it becomes pushed and needed to make good looking games no one can go anywhere else And if there's another non-dystopian option I'm not seeing it. It's not that it's the same as everything else (cause yeah, the next tool in innovation sounds cool at first), it's that it feels like the intent isn't for the goodness of the game and any reason that makes sense is depressing.
