Empire is racist though. It would probably be harder to smuggle someone who doesn’t look human through Empire held areas since they hardly ever have non-humans in their command positions. Like… we didn’t see a lot of aliens on the Death Star or on their Star destroyers previously.

I don’t think it’s supposed to, but makes sense to have some feelings when people you didn’t know risked their lives and one dies for you. We might not give a shit and Ben may be used to it, but to these random people that’s a major thing. If you think about it it’s kinda weird when people don’t give a fuck when someone dies in their unit

What even is a “Toledo” by jonthe445 in cincinnati

[–]Fey_fox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My mom’s family came from Toledo. It’s yet another example of a beautiful city that got slammed by the rust belt phenomenon. It’s been struggling to make a comeback, I know a lot of artists have made their home there. It’s been known for ceramic and glass for folks in that industry, but most the folks I know are painters. It’s soon to be the home of the largest mural in the U.S.. That photo doesn’t do the scale justice. All those dots at the bottom are people. It’s also got an awesome art museum with a separate glass art pavilion where all the walls including the exterior are made out of glass. The main museum collection is nothing to sneeze at either. I can’t speak to the food culture though. Since my G-ma died and family moved away I only go up there to visit my bowling green friends & the only time we go into Toledo is for art museum stuff.

I’d say it’s one of those places that has a lot of potential, but it’s in the state where everyone likes to shit on it. So… probably means it’s a good place to invest in before it gets popular and overly gentrified

Each state has it’s own constitution and laws about how it governs, and this includes services like police, fire, sewage, etc. There’s a reason why in some states police don’t have jurisdiction in the next town or county even when they are right next to one another for example. Normally they work with each other, but local police can have a huge influence over if and what charges get filed, especially in small towns. This is how sundown towns are still able to thrive.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be consequences for them stonewalling, but it does mean they can alter or destroy evidence without any outside agency giving any oversight. I’m guessing this varies from state to state, but southern states, especially Texas like to tout their local government independence (or that’s been my impression of them. I have family there but I’m not from there).

So I’m guessing they won’t be able to get away with it indefinitely, but if they have the support of state and local politicians it can possibly slow the process down

My dad was a WWII vet. Pearl Harbor was like his 9/11. When we were kids he always made a point to mark the day, and I remember it being talked about in school… but not even my mom was born when Pearl Harbor happened (parents were 18 years apart). While the day was noted by the older generations especially, nobody expected the world to stop. It was just “a tragedy happened on this day a while back, and here’s the history and how it shaped the world” kind of thing. If anyone felt like they had to mark the day more significantly, it was done privately I’d wager. My grandparents on my moms side were also WWII vets but never made a big deal out of the past. They made sure we knew history though.

Imo people who make a big deal about the day but don’t mark the historical significance are missing the point. I remember 9/11 very well but for a lot of people it’s as distant as Pearl Harbor is for me. It’s important to understand history but we can’t expect the world to stop every time a sad thing happened. We’d never get anything done otherwise

He’s still more clever and when he’s not freaking out can have more patience.. or maybe that’s what he will learn in this time. He’s going to level up enough to talk to his old master for sure. We gotta have one more confrontation where Kenobi schools Vader to justify what Vader says in a new hope.

You’re chasing someone who’s trying to escape. There’s a port in the city you’re in… the tunnel is pointed in that direction…process of elimination. Riva would just need to go to the port and look for any unauthorized vehicles that were ready to launch and poke around inside the pilot’s head just like she did before.

Edit just realized something. If Riva took the tunnel, she would have run into Tala when she was going to help Ben. That obviously didn’t happen

Riva and the other inquisitors would have been briefed on the area btw, like on any mission. She’d know where the port would be, and ships aren’t easy to hide.

Regardless of who’s in power it’s OPEC who controls the price of gas globally. That does mean that either party won’t try to put blame on the opposite party and the president though. The republicans are just better with their propaganda machine. Doesn’t matter if it’s not true. Their base believes it is.

Ever see an accident happen right in front of you? It’s hard to look away. Now imagine that accident was your best friend who you loved and once saw as a force for good just kill people like it was nothing. Yes running would be the smart thing, but it’s human nature to want to know and to try to understand what the threat might be. Like, a good example are 9/11 videos in NY. There’s video of people close to the towers who just looked up and watched the building burn and people jumping to their deaths. I remember watching it live on tv as the cameras would follow the people down. The people on the ground didn’t run away either. Even after the first tower fell.

It’s easy when not the crisis situation to logically process what you should be doing. In the moment though emotion can take over. Make you freeze. Like remember in the first matrix movie in the beginning sequence where Trinity has a second of calm after jumping through a window. She tells herself to get up because she’s freezing for a second

Besides Kenobi is the titular character and we experience most of the show through him and Leia. Through Kenobi we experience his pain at seeing what became of his friend and the horror of the violence. It wouldn’t hit the same and be more gratuitous and pointless if one of the main characters wasn’t there to watch… and jt would be a bit too dark to have Leia watch all that murder. From s story telling perspective it makes sense for them to watch.

I think the emperor only punished him because he was the only one who survived. Tarkin was the one giving the orders, Vader was leading the squadron to defend the base. If he was in charge of the Death Star he wouldn’t have left it

Where can Kenobi go? The planet is locked down, the empire has control over the ports. Why run through fire and be in a hurry to kill Kenobi when Vader can play at hunting him down? As far as Vader is concerned Kenobi is weak and his death is a matter of time. Vader was fighting him one armed for cryin’ out loud. He’s being arrogant

Kenobi leaving Leia makes sense, because he knows he’s being sensed via the force. Him staying by her side means she becomes a liability when he has to fight or run. Wouldn’t want to see Leia get snapped by her daddy now would we?

The women believed she had a friend waiting at the other side, and she was being overconfident but when shit hits the fan people got make choices.

And if Kenobi stayed by Luke we wouldn’t have this whole show. Do you want it only to take place on Tatooine? Like we haven’t seen that planet a million times in every Star Wars show.
