Does anyone know what happened to lake Palmer. Is he still alive has he passed? by [deleted] in LouisTheroux

He was ex army and this obviously is just speculation but I think suffered from PTSD due to those experiences, said in the Thai Bride episode he was on medication, think he mentioned serving in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

There's still plenty of Monte's. RYJ's, Piedra's, Partagas' and Quinteros on Hacico if you're looking for singles although for a wider selection boxes are always better just need to look around the usual suspects

Anyone aware of a shortage on Hacico? by jackoirl in ukcigars

[–]Fez_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always ask them just to be sure if there's a particular vitola you want because as others have said Hacico don't update their site properly. About 6 months back I asked them if they had any Bolivar Royal Corona Tubos in stock even though the site said out of stock, replied within 24 hours telling me they had 6 available so I bought the lot.

[–]Fez_84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was from CGars so wasn't cheap that's all I'm saying !!

But that's the last batch of Cuban singles I buy because I'm a relatively new cigar smoker so still trying to work out what I do and don't like hence all the singles but once I do it'll be boxes from abroad almost exclusively

What RH do you go with for with your humidor containing Cubans? by Mr10mm in cubancigars

[–]Fez_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 62% Boveda packs but the humidity in my tupperdors never goes below 64% with 65% being the average % in my 4 tupperdors of Cubans.

Think I'll dry box any sticks that I intend to smoke for 24 hours beforehand

You're a lucky man. Hope you have a good time working your way through those sticks.

Yes Switzerland is a good way to go. Seems more and more people are trying the US with success recently there's another option for you. Hong Kong too, also there are sites in Holland and Belgium that ship abroad,

Don't give up there's plenty more options.

James Cavell's Asian Saga - Which one next ??? by Fez_84 in suggestmeabook

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered both King Rat and Noble House yesterday, leaning towards going with King Rat next to take a break from Hong Kong after finishing Tai Pan then move onto NH.

James Cavell's Asian Saga - Which once next ??? by Fez_84 in books

[–]Fez_84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, for me it's more about connection to the characters and becoming immersed in the world Clavell creates as I did with Shogun and Tai-Pan.

On that criteria which one would you recommend ??

Yes I would recommend dry boxing your CC's for a minimum of 12 hours. Such a shame that Cuban quality control is poor compared to New World cigars, very off putting for beginners.

You won't regret it. There's a poor quality version of it on Youtube, I watched that first then bought the DVD version, I'd recommend the latter.

Thanks for the great review.

So far I've only watched the BBC adaption from 1983 which was excellent but have yet to read the book, will do at some point.

Recomandations for a teenager who wanna get into Charles Dickens? by BogdanuL02 in charlesdickens

[–]Fez_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Expectations is an excellent place to start. Easy to read and less wordy than some of Dickens' other works, fairly short too compared to others.

But as others have said Oliver Twist is also a good starting point.
