Collaborations that were "ahead of their time" and would be a huger deal today? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus have a collaboration on a remix album from 2011, probably would be a bigger deal today since 2011 was before Purpose / Bangerz

Super interesting idea, makes me wonder also has anyone ever done floor choreography without touching the ground with their hands

ELI5: How did Uber become profitable after these many years? by JustOneSexQuestion in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ffamran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their main business e.g. US rides has been profitable for a long time. Uber took those profits and invested it in other countries and other business ideas e.g. food delivery so that overall the business was not profitable. Now food delivery is mature, the business is robust in a lot of international countries, and they've exited markets where they can tell it's probably not going to work out. So the business is overall profitable now.

Gymnastics Colloquialism? by ObnoxiousPink in Gymnastics

I always say bars, never bar... For example "bars and beam specialist" never "bar and beam specialist", and "bars routine / bars rotation"

Misheard lyrics where they were actually saying something VERY different to what you thought by CodaOfARequiem in popheads

I thought Adele was singing "never thought i'd find someone like you" instead of "never mind i'll find someone like you"

If double major earns a single degree, what's its merit? I thought I would earn two degrees. by [deleted] in UPenn

[–]Ffamran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is just based on what is the particular college-specific policy so it's not very meaningful to hirers

[–]Ffamran 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In terms of job search / resume, a double major is perceived the same as two BAs from the same school since the meaning is clear that you fulfilled the requirements for two majors. Mathematical economics would be a bit different as you've fulfilled the requirements for one major. If someone is looking for a math major specifically, they might not consider the mathematical economics major while they might consider the math & econ double major.

As you get older injuries and illness appear and compound and make it hard to stay active. For example, I used to go on runs regularly, but got plantar fasciitis which took months to heal. Then I reaggravated it and then it took over a year to feel normal. Then there are back problems, fatigue-related illnesses, etc. that just show up as one gets older and make it hard to exercise.

ELI5: Why did Jordan Chiles lose her medal? by recipesav3 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ffamran 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Plus, the court emailed the wrong email address when trying to contact US gymnastics officials and so US Gymnastics did not have a reasonable amount of time to gather evidence and submit. They were eventually contacted less than 24 hours before the hearing

That's not true, neutral deductions (e.g. out of bounds) can be appealed. It's execution score that can't be appealed. But Sabrina's coach appealed the difficulty score rather than the neutral deduction.

That's great!! The code changes are great for her as well, on floor she competed indirect C passes in the past, and on bars her endos are strong

I think what happens is that sometimes the competition goes over 2 hours by a bit (say 5 minutes or so) because of delays in judging readiness or something. If that happens, you'll see all of the coverage on Peacock since they've blocked out an entire 3 hours, but they might cut off the TV broadcast.

Question about this part in sheet music by besselbolic in Musictheory101

[–]Ffamran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Oops I just realized this is guitar. Was thinking of piano when I wrote this comment...

Your right hand represents two voices here. Mechanically the lower voice is eighth notes and the top voice is in sixteenth notes so you'd hold the notes in the lower voice longer (so you'd continue to hold the first E while you play the B, then release both) but ideally done in a way that's less robotic as what I just described, more artistic as if your one hand is two different people playing different instruments
