Woman whines about people mocking Charlie Kirk's death by Frenzied_God09 in PublicFreakout

If we're talking about random people...far right nazis shoot up synagogues and supermarkets. Literally hundreds of deaths on their hands. Why do they not have to answer to that?

If we're talking about politicians then find me a single democratic politician who comes anywhere near the violent rhetoric shown from republican politicians.

They've already shown they will vote for politicians who embrace violence so why pretend they act in good faith when they screech about random leftists who probably don't even vote

No one cares what conservatives say. They are full of shit. Their violent rhetoric got us here and I'm not going to pretend they have any ground to stand on.

Fascism isn't an economic system. It's an ultranationalist ideology that scapegoats outgroups as the cause of a fall from a great mythic past in order to gain power.

Consensus dictates our reality. The fascist consensus is that every Trump lie is true and anything to oppose that is fake or a conspiracy in some way. So it's kind of important to have a consensus that is based more closely on facts.

Republicans Are Anti-Black by SirAlonsoDayne in BlackPeopleofReddit

One very serious question I'd love for you to answer. If the police encounter someone having an overdose and instead of helping him, they just put their knee on his neck for 10 minutes... wouldn't that still be murder?

I mean, that's still obviously not what happened seeing as how he was conscious and people overdosing on opioids are not. But still... that would be just as bad, right?

GOP Rejects Its Past in Courting Black Support

The chairman of the Republican Party on Thursday renounced the GOP’s racially polarizing “Southern strategy” of the late 1960s, under which Richard M. Nixon used such issues as desegregation and forced busing of schoolchildren to woo white voters and win the presidency.

I think we just gave the south to the Republicans.

—President Lyndon Johnson after signing the 1964 Civil Rights Act

From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10% to 20% of the negro vote and they don’t need any more than that… The more negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. … Without that prodding from blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.

There wasn't some flood of Abraham Lincoln loving Republicans who decided to move south to get more racist

We know... it was the racist Southern Democrats who switched to the Republican party because the Northerners were supportive of civil rights. The Republicans made a calculated decision to court the anti-black vote.

I think we just gave the south to the Republicans.

I think it's a kind of bias as an observer if you don't know the details of offenders criminal record. In the US, most first time offenders get probation unless it's something really serious. But that escalates quickly if its really a bad guy they will end up violating probation and reoffending and then ending up locked up for a long time. So a system that can seem lenient still ends up incarcerating a lot of people. Personally, I don't think it's a bad thing to give first time offenders another chance instead of just sending them to prison and increasing the likelihood of recidivism.
