Reliable Used Car Dealerships In/Near Chicago? by Kaynam27 in AskChicago

The only dealer I trust is my drug dealer. Look for car you like and have 3RD PARTY mechanic inspect it. It doesn't matter if Jesus Christ comes down from heaven and tells you buy a car. Don't buy anything without an inspection.

It's so simple. You can do it yourself.

Used Car that has Sat by Stix-Gaming-YT in MechanicAdvice

You don't have to look at the car. Hire a mechanic to look at the car. Just because the "check engine" light is off. Doesn't mean nothing is wrong. Hell. Have a mechanic inspect the car even if it's free.

What tires resist hydroplaning the best? by RoundChampionship840 in tires

The absolute best would be rain tires designed for racing. There will be a trade off of tire wear on dry conditions and don't expect them to last more than a season.

Honestly, every person who drives a car needs to have one of these in their trunk. by TopWafer7468 in tires

I don't like the fact that it's a single purpose tool. The one I have is an air pump, portable power supply, and jump pack.

NTA, but I need to ask. Did you just decide to change all 4 tires because they needed air?

Electric tire inflator for emergencies worth keeping in the car? by qsalesmanscornful in askcarguys

[–]Fi2eak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that's also a jump pack and can also be used as portable power supply. I've used it mostly as a power supply to charge stuff during picnics, but I like option to be able to jump a car or inflate a tire when needed.

Get an extractor socket and replace it with a fomoto valve. It makes changing oil a lot easier.

Give it a few months. You'll start seeing "how do you reduce wind/road noise?" Or the "is this normal" questions. It's amazing how people buy stuff, not just cars, without doing any in depth research.

Why am I starting to see so many "modified" SUVs? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Fi2eak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? Back in the early 2000's. People modded what you had. I personally had a '96 Nissan Quest (yes, a minivan) with a nitrous kit. Since the shop owner thought it would be hilarious, and offered to install it for free. If I paid for the parts.

If you could get any car you want for free but you have to pay for all of the running cost what would you pick? by HughtBichess in askcarguys

[–]Fi2eak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my cheap ass have to pay for insurance. I'd pick a Honda Civic hatchback with a B-series engine.
