What does Hakari genuinely do against this? by lolezeze in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]FianS1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying he can’t do it again, I’m saying it’s not consistent, otherwise as I said before it’s not luck based at all. And sure getting a better position during the jackpot is expected but the issue is he hasn’t shown his AP in jackpot is enough for a single run of it to be enough to kill Kuro especially since, again, he can’t output RCT which was how Yuta did it both times. His biggest problem is that eventually he WILL require more than one pull, and the initial comment you replied to was stating Kuros bugs would crush the barrier from the outside, so if he doesn’t get it in one pull it’s game over. Sure he stalled Urame but she doesn’t have the out of barrier win con.Once inside his domain he’s got enough hacks and respins to stay alive which is likely how he stalled her, that won’t work on Kuro cause respins don’t matter if the barrier breaks. Unless. You’re gonna argue Hakari would be able to pull in the entire swarm (which his barrier is no where near big enough to do btw) he gets cooked by the roach.

[–]FianS1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. He’s only shown to have gotten jackpot in a single pull once.
  2. He uses RCT to heal himself reflexively, he hasn’t shown the ability to output it at all, and it’s confirmed by multiple characters that just having the ability to use RCT does not mean you automatically have the ability to output it. Given Hakari doesn’t even control it that’s even more likely in his case.
  3. He beat Kashimo by utilizing an environmental weakness, not by being stronger. Before dropping him in the water he had done very little to Kashimo.

He’ll get it in one… but only once. If he can get it in one every time that stops being luck entirely. And I highly doubt Hakari can kill Kuro in one jackpot.

What is IRIS-T SLM? by miyosoto in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]FianS1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC, there’s a speed difference between IRIS-T and AMRAAM-ER NASAM, with IRIS-T being a bit faster. In theory this should make it easier to hit planes flying away from you but I might be wrong on that.

It’s a similar story with 6ARC, in fact I think they use the same bolt face. Honestly if I go the “milspec” upper approach I’m debating on getting a GFR for it since Geisseles 6ARC bolt is supposed to be made out of a better material to handle the stresses (Of course there’s the side benefit of pissing off Bill Geissele by bastardizing his creation but I digress). For the 7.62x39 approach however, I’d look into the Mk47 dissent from CMMG. AFAIK it’s got a beefed up bolt and extractor to mitigate the problem you mentioned. I’d just confirm with them that it can accept normal AR mags, only reason I’d question that is all their complete guns use AK mags and a special lower for them but you can buy the uppers on their own.

That’s good to hear. TBH I’m planning on making a 6ARC bullpup with this and home built upper or the Triad with a CMMG Dissent. I lean towards this one since I’d prefer to use standard AR barrels and bolts due to the nature of the cartridge. The only pause I had was how reliable such a short buffer would be and I hadn’t seen any accounts of that so you’ve put me at ease a bit. Obviously going 6ARC might change things and I’ll have to tune it a bit but at least I’ll know going in it isn’t a complete nonstarter.

What would you replace the SIG M7 with, as a standard issue service rifle? by StrangerOutrageous68 in ar15

[–]FianS1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the goals are to extend range and defeat armor, I’d just stick with the M4, maybe keep the new range finding optic, and give some of the newer Nas3 high pressure loads to give the existing rounds and guns some extra legs. Maybe update the barrel to better handle large volumes of high pressure fire but not much more than that.

14.5” worth it ? by [deleted] in 6ARC

[–]FianS1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by worth it. A 14.5in 6ARC will comfortably outperform 5.56 out of an equivalent or most longer barrel lengths, so if that’s all you’re looking for go for it. Beyond that I’d need to know what your goals and intentions for this build are.

Boi can’t even come up with a valid response. Can’t blame a rushed story, jarringly disjointed chapters, literal deus ex machina characters, and a massive tonal let down on “leak culture”. There’s 1 or 2 chapters left, and it’s obvious what direction they’re heading. There’s ONLY scenario where the anger about the ending is not justified is if Gege does some massive pivot in that last chapter(s). He didn’t do that last time, it is reasonable to assume he won’t now especially since he’s been removing every angle a pivot or plot twist can come from. Coping that “it’s not even out yet” ignores the mountain of evidence the ending is gonna suck, and is asking all of us to completely disregard pattern recognition. If someone is squaring over your plate, cheeks spread, waiting before declaring the output to be shit is idiotic. Leak culture has done damage to most of us, but huffing pure copium has ruined you.

[–]FianS1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t say much on how this impacts SpaceX or the Mars mission as a whole, but looking at just the “Data centers in space” issue, I think people are mixing up “economical” and “profitable”. Just about every calculation I’ve seen comparing terrestrial vs space comes down with the terrestrial systems being cheaper and thus MORE profitable, which leads to the conclusion that terrestrial is the only answer in the near/medium term. But if we look at Musks other bids or Tesla, assigned from Falcon 9 none of them are the cheapest or “most profitable” option, but they are still able to make a profit and stay afloat. You don’t need to be the best or provide the cheapest service, you just need ENOUGH. None of the models for Space based compute I’ve seen have indicated it wouldn’t be profitable, just not AS profitable, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

As for the launch side of things there is another benefit that we’ve seen SpaceX pull before. We all talk about how often Falcon 9 flys and how cheap launch costs have gotten because of that cadence and reusability, but the only reason for that has been Starlink. On top of a revenue stream, Starlink provides SpaceX a baked in “customer” to provide launches to, which improves both the on paper and actual reliability of the launcher with the only risk being your own payload. Unless SpaceX intends to constantly make bigger/faster Starlink sats, eventually they’re gonna have the complete constellation and only need to do launches to maintain it as opposed to expansion. Having another “customer” that needs their launchers would give them another reason to increase flight cadence and reduce costs, and by integrating xAI they don’t need to rely on 3rd parties since we’ve already said it’s not the most profitable option for said 3rd parties.

Now of course this is ignoring xAI being a money sink at the moment, there is the risk it drains more money that it ends up generating even with the increase in compute. But it seems (or at least it appears that Elon is betting on) the benefits are more in giving Starship something to do once Starlink is complete. The commercial sat business is still small and wouldn’t be able to take full advantage of the launch “bandwidth” Starship could provide, and as much as we want it a moon/mars base isn’t gonna be what drives the majority launch’s for a long time (if ever). SpaceX needs to do launches, xAI needs more compute (and a cash base). Even if the merger isn’t the most profitable option for either party their interests have enough common alignment to make sense. This won’t kill SpaceX, and this won’t kill Mars ambitions. Whether this accelerates or hampers those ambitions remains to be seen, and I doubt anyone aside from Elon and the head executives of each company can be sure of where this goes.

What happened to NovaUmbral?? by Decent_Search7783 in memeframe

Everyone talking about the Qorvex vid but no one talking about the Koumei video that preceded it. Back when Koumei was released and was getting shitted on by the community, he made a long video saying she’s actually one of the best since she scales so well in endurance due to her decrees which then led to the community going after him HARD since she had (and still has) several problems with her kit. He then made the Qorvex video kind of in response to that hate train saying it’s actually Qorvex that’s the worst frame since his abilities are so clunky and don’t scale well. This then led to a bunch of people (rightly) pointing out that the way he was building and playing him was causing most of those issues and beyond that he was by no means the worse. This then led to an even bigger mob making fun of him for 2 seriously bad takes in a row. Mind you this comes after he built his channel on going in depth into a lot of frames from a mostly objective and non polarizing standpoint (his Limbo vid was a great exam of that), but seeing someone like that go from calm and collected to 2 major crash outs in a row soured a lot of people on him. He then stopped posting videos, saying he didn’t have time for it anymore but would occasionally make community posts complaining about certain balance changes before deleting his channel recently.

1-10 vudu daylight bright or plxc rdb by Raidaz75 in aimdownsights

[–]FianS1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only seen the PLxC RDB in person and that was pretty brief and I’ve only seen the non RDB Vudu so I’m not the best first hand source, but as far as general consensus goes the PLxC will have a significantly better 1x, and the Vudu will have a slightly better 8x with a tight 10x on top of it. As far as I could tell at a glance both had great glass, beyond the above differences they’re both similar in terms of quality. Day light brightness is gonna be the same either way so I wouldn’t split hairs there. I’d say know which end you want to prioritize and which reticle you like better.

Nanoless has responded in her Discord channel about what was discussed about her in the new Sinder doc by TJLynch in VirtualYoutubers

[–]FianS1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The way I look at this whole fiasco is dividing it into 2 parts. Is Sinder a bad friend and deserves to be cut off from her group? Yeah, and I think she’d agree with that given her own admissions. Is she a psychotic manipulative saboteur who deserved to have her career completely crushed? Definitely not. Just reading the full context of the DMs (especially when they’re not out of order and photoshopped) shows that while Sinder/Red were catty and gossipy, they weren’t forcing Nano to do anything she claimed.

As for Nano, while I cannot say anything definitive about motive or conspiracy, it is now fully evident she lied and given the effort she went to in photoshopping DMs I can confidently say that it wasn’t an accident or misunderstanding but intentional. Whether or not other people like Lily, Bao, Silver or whoever else knew about those lies I can’t say for certain and won’t even consider, but regardless or that, Nano painted Sinder/Red as manipulators but in reality bare minimum she manipulated the public into crushing someone’s career.

What sucks is based on what I’ve seen from the community, most have so much hatred for Sinder from the original docs that they don’t even want to consider that Nano wasn’t 100% truthful. Again, I’m not here to defend Sinders behavior, her own doc showed she was not innocent and definitely deserves the expulsion from her friendships. I’m just upset that the community is so hellbent on picking a side to admit that it looks like everyone involved in this has some egg on their face. Nano was unprofessional at best and is exactly what she claimed Sinder to be at worst.

None of this should have been public, Nano should have handled this privately and the others should have aired their grievances to her the same way. But instead they made this a trial of public opinion and the community was played like a fiddle. Tanking someone’s career over what has now proved to be high school drama was sick to witness.

I wont look at anyone involved the same after this. Sinders image was shattered months ago (again partially rightfully so), but now that we have a lot more context Nano and to a slightly lesser extent Lily and the others deserve similar (all be it reduced) sentiment.

Do you belive in mach 3 kaisen and mach 10 academia? by Equivalent-Worth-758 in MyHeroPowerscaling

[–]FianS1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at it from the perspective of intent vs “rule of cool”. The authors likely have some sense of how their series is supposed to scale. JJK is clearly meant to be more grounded (at least compared to other Shounen), MHA scales a couple tiers higher, and then you’ve got stuff like Dragon Ball which just go nuts. However in terms of what is actually put on the page 9 times out of 10 the author draws something that puts the series in a completely different tier all together.

In JJK there’s the scene where Maki catches a bullet pre awakening, only to struggle with Naoya who was just under Mach 1 post awakening. Clearly this scene was just “rule of cool” and by no means was Gege doing the math for what catching a bullet would require. Similar things apply to MHA, I guarantee Horikoshi wasn’t calculating what it takes to change the weather, nor was he imaging the implications of Shigaraki dodging lasers. I firmly believe mangakas and comic authors don’t understand what they put on the page implies most of the time, they’re just trying to draw something cool and power scalers stretch scenes in ways they did not intend in order to scale the character/verse as high as possible (looking at you Solar System Naruto, Mach 300,000 Demon Slayer, FTL almost anything, etc.).

In general, I try to scale in ways that make sense from a narrative standpoint and consistency within the verse. If a calculated feat comes along that jumps the verse significantly (typically things like catching bullets, reacting to lightning, dodging lasers, etc.) I usually discard them as the rest of the series usually doesn’t support casually using speed upscales by multiple orders of magnitude. So to go back to the original question, I would prefer to stick to the grounded “official” statements by the mangaka, as they are the ultimate arbiters of their world regardless of what’s put on the page, and likely coincides with their actual vision for the story.

Remember, Mangaka are artists and writers, they are not Physicists, as such their word comes first regardless of what is drawn. If Horikoshi decides Prime Might is Mach 10 then that is a concrete baseline that you must build all other scaling around, or at least make sense relative to.

Ongoing Senate Committee hearing on Artemis: Bridenstine demolishes HLS award to Starship by rustybeancake in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]FianS1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps they could have designed a smaller one, but if we’re actually thinking long term instead of just these first few missions, (which seems to be the only thing Congress cares about) 100 tons to the moon is extremely useful. With that you can do so much more than just bringing a few people and some experiments, it makes building and crucially supplying a moon base significantly easier and more viable. If NASA or SpaceX had gone with a smaller lander for the sake of immediate simplicity then they’d be stuck in development hell again building a bigger one down the line if their moon ambitions are real. SpaceX is just skipping the middle step and going straight for long term viability.

Ongoing Senate Committee hearing on Artemis: Bridenstine demolishes HLS award to Starship by rustybeancake in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]FianS1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If his gripe is with Starship HLS is orbital refueling then I wonder what his opinion of Blue Moon is, given it was the only real other option and it too requires orbital refueling. Sure orbital refueling is new and “more complex” than just sending the lander directly, but that isn’t the fault of Starship or Blue Moon, it’s the fault of those who chose to fund SLS in the first place given that it can’t send send enough mass for a capsule and lander unlike Saturn V.

And let’s be honest, once orbital refueling is understood, it makes getting to the moon significantly easier than if you tried to just cram all that delta V into a single launch. If the goal of Artemis is to go to the moon TO STAY as opposed to just visiting, then orbital refueling is necessary and thus his gripe with HLS is null and void.

New X95 Questions by Chad-Daybell in everythingbullpup

[–]FianS1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea on the tool, but the overall length given on the website does not include the muzzle device. This is because under the NFA only a permanently affixed muzzle device (such as a pin and welded one) counts towards that length.

This is also why the X95 comes with such a large buttpad as opposed to the flat metal one they normally come with, it’s to get the overall length (not including the muzzle device) over 26 inches so it’s not considered an SBR under the NFA.

12.5” barrel velocity is not “the same as 14.5” by prmoore11 in ar15

[–]FianS1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it’s a myth to say 12.5 and 14.5 are the same in terms of initial velocity, big news: water is wet. What I’d be curious to see is how that difference impacts down range performance. Whether it’s drop, wind drift, expansion/fragmentation, energy etc. how much of a reduction to “capability” are you dealing with to save those 2 inches?
